    Warm White Strip Light $10

  • How much is a Bluetooth controller thing?

    • You can get a wifi Google/Alexa compatible RGBW controller for $10-$20 on ebay/Amazon, and 5m of leds for $10 to $20.

3200k… that's pretty 'cool' for 'warm'! 2700k's where it's at for 'warm' IMO.

    • +1

Both are yellow compare to daylight at 5000-6000K

    • …. or possibly with the cheaper non bluetooth version: https://www.bunnings.com.au/holman-warm-white-manual-lightso…

    • +1

If you want Bluetooth smarts etc. then yes, you need the expensive controller. If not then just feed it 12V and be done with it.

Or buy cheap wifi plug if u need to control single strip. Since its not RGB I don't think you need costlier controller.
Wifi extension board would suit for multiple lights.

  • Interesting 2 pin plug…. Couldn't you just connect it to the ikea tradfri controller?

  • Bluetooth? Idiots (Holman).

  • Can anyone advise on a ac to dc converter for this sort of strip? A module I could solder or something similar. I want to run it straight from the wall with a manual on/off switch.

    • Yep, just a nice 12V 1.5A Plugpack will do the trick. Either this for $25 or this for $30. For the extra $5 it's probably best to go for the latter as it has adjustable voltage which you could use as a dimmer if 12V ended up being too bright. On top of that, a multi-voltage Plugpack is far more handy to use for other things if you ever wanted to scrap this project. Cheaper Plugpacks can be had via eBay/China for a fraction of the price of course.

      • Awesome! Cheers for that ill check them out

      • Do you think this would work ok. It's hard to know if there would be any measurable difference in quality.

Edit. Sorry just read reviews… Jaycar it is. Cheers

        • … and best to go for 1.5A, not 1A as per the one in your link. 1A would work but you might be maxxing it out. Best to go for the most powerful supply you could be bothered to afford… but 1.5A should do the trick nicely.

Go to eBay etc instead. Whatever lengths you want, less than $5/metre.
Standard plugs, power supplies and remote controls cheap (a few $) and easily available to fit.

No reason to go to Bunnings unless you cannot wait a few days for post.

  • Why is it so expensive? Just hoping to catch the unwary?

    • It seems some people still like buying things from bricks & mortar stores and of course that comes at a price.
