drink holders for a toddler? ;)
        very optimistic

        • +1

          courage

        • Yeah. It's the daftest thing. There's one on each side!

  • Don't know anything about the price but for product quality I highly recommend. I am using one for my daughter and very satisfied.

  • +2

I would recommend that you should use this seat with a car seat protector as this is quite a heavy seat and may cause permanent indentations on the rear seats!

    • +1

We have this one and it comes with a seat protector. Very happy with it for anyone interested.

      • +2

Agree it comes with messy mat protector which does nothing to protect your rear seats from permanent compression marks from this car seat. It's quite flimsy tbh

        • +2

If installed correctly, nothing will protect your car seats from permanent indentations.
We'll be using this till the child is 4 or 5 which means we'd be due for a new car and that will be someone else's problem 🤣

  • Any suggestions for a narrow child seat? I want to be able to drop the 40/60 seats (centre and right hand seat.)

    • +1

      britax graphene or infasecure grandeur

    • I have 60/40 and the platinum pro (wider) and i can still fold the '60' side no problems. Only goes up to 4 years though.

    • I have the Britax Graphene - it fits in the back of my 5 door Golf nicely - probably wouldn't want a seat that was any wider. We are very happy with it, for what that's worth..

These do not have iso fix, not sure why it’s marketd as premium seats

    • +5

The premium tag could have been given due to the additional safety aspects of side protection.
And on the ISO unavailability on these extendeable harness models, Product review support panel says the reason as below.
"Australian Standard only allows restraints suitable for children up to approximately 4 years to be connected to the cars' ISOFIX low anchorages. This is because the car's anchorages may not be suitable for heavier children"

    • You will find that Isofix isn’t approved in Australia for car seats that are used in children over the age of 4. The only seats in Australia with isofix are the 0-4 year old seats. Isofix just makes it easier to install, it is no safer than the usual install.

      • +2

No. ISOFIX is much safer imo.
With a normal safety seat, it’s ‘removable’ at the bottom. And it depends on your car seatbelt works functionally.
While with a ISOFIX one, seat is actually ‘locked’ at the bottom.

        • +1

They have locking devices for this reason. Once your child outgrows a 0-4 seat, there are no ISOfix seats. I've never used the ISOfix despite having them. Always got a better install with seatbelt.

        • +1

Traditional car seats are not removable at the bottom provided it is installed correctly. I.e car seatbelt has the car seat one way retraction system or you use a seatbelt clip.

    • +2

      Agreed.
Get a Platinum and switch to a booster seat after 4.
Having used both, ISOFIX is much safer than a car seatbelt.

      • +2

I wouldn't be moving my child to a booster at 4. These are great carseats to keep them harnessed til 8yo which is safer than any booster seat will provide. ISOfix is just more fool proof. Learn to do a proper solid install and they are as safe as each other.

        • I said ‘after 4’, it’s the base age line according to the manual. The actual age moving to a booster seat depends on kid’s size, height, weight, etc.
ISOFIX is not fool proof. It’s recommended by both the manufacturers and vehicle manufacturers for some reason.
I have a Platinum Pro using a seatbelt on my Holden Captiva with a seat protector which is slippery/movable at the bottom. While another same one using ISOFIX on my Land Rover with a seat protector doesn’t have any concern.
And I don’t think all the parents will check the installation regularly. Kids are kids, they’re curious. ‘Locked’ ISOFIX does mean much much safer. At least my kids are always playing with the seatbelts, grab handles, etc when I put them on/off the seats.
Anyway, as I said before, that’s my opinion.

          • @Vincent2204: To be honest, if you install the seats correctly there should not be any movement at the bottom.

            • @garbagetnt: This is why ISOFIX is safer than safety belt.
There is no movement at all with ISOFIX.
But with safety belt, no matter how hard you tighten it, there will be slight movement, especially with fabric or seat cover underneath.
And it will get worse if you don’t do regular check.

      Do you have a child?

      • -2

That proves my point, bo evidenced based response, just a "do you have a child?". It akin to being an antivaxxer

        • I asked if you have a child so i could figure out:
          1. If you took into account the emotional "premium" parents tend to place on items like these. I tend to spent more on quality safety equipment for my kids, especially when it involves a hunk of metal travelling at high speeds.
          2. If you know what the average cost of a 6 month-8 year booster seat is (which is not your typical boosted seat).

I don't understand your comment around "guilty parent syndrome", as i bought this based purely on my wants as a consumer. I could just strap my kids to the car seat but its wildly unsafe and i would feel better if i didn't do that.

OzBargain is a place for bargains. This is indeed a bargain because it is significantly reduced from the retail price.

Please take your trolling comments elsewhere. Maybe 4chan.

          • -1

@MajorGaz: You will have to trust me on this, but yes I took into account the emotional premium as you call it, which is this idea that you expect something to be better at ita job (saving a kids life in a crash) because it costs more or is over engineered. What I would like to know is is there any real evidence of this, or are we just guessing?

It might be cheaper than the identical item is elsewhere, but if its not better than a 100 dollar kmart booster seat its not a bargain at all.

I dont know What a 6 month to 8 year booster seat costs going by this one, but I do know that there is one at kmart for about 100 bucks. Can't say for sure its from 6 months, but for that price you could buy 3 or 4. Also no one expects to strap your kid in a car with no seat, so back to the original question, is there any real world safety benefit to this seat or are people just deluding themselves?

  • I bought 2 of these car seats few months ago on eBay for $469 with 15% off.

The quality of these car seat are very good, you can transform to booster later on.

  • Do i hv to be ebay plus member to buy it? If yes, any charge for becoming ebay plus member?

Im trying to get the Millenia, however code doesnt work. Interesting to know that some products under the same seller can not apply the discount

    • +1

      Why Millenia?
Heard these one are not good for child under 1.5yr

      • Millenia is a perfectly fine seat, my baby is in one. You must be thinking of a different as seat Millenia is suitable definitely for newborns.

        • I know Millenia is perfect but was wondering why aren't you going for the one advertised (Maxi Guard Pro) Is it because these are for 1yr+ babies or some other reason)
My sister was after Mellenia too let me know if you find a good deal

          • @cisco: We have both the Millenia and the Maxi Guard Pro. Both excellent seats. The Millenia you can use from newborn and you can also keep it backward facing for longer which is safer (till your child’s shoulders are over the line), which is supposed to be up to 12 months. Besides the size and the backwards seating I find the seats otherwise very similar. If you’re buying for a child who is ready to be forward facing I’d go the Maxi Guard Pro for longevity.

            • +1

@strid: We also have the same as you. Rear faced my eldest in the millenia until she was 2 (easily could have gone longer though) and she is 97th percentile for height. Great seat.

        • I think you misread what Cisco meant

      • yes I heard the Millenia is from 0-4years old and able to do back facing until the kid is around 1-2 years old.

The Maxi Guard will suit older kids, I believe the maxi guard cant be not used back facing.

    • Did you had any luck with the seat with code BIGGIE10

      • Nope…. that code was Targeted.

  • The 15% discount only applies to Kohl and Midnight Navy, not Pebble Grey which I want =(

    • Buy any color and then exchange for what you want.

    • +4

      Honestly, you'll survive.

  • missed:(
