As a make good, we've organised to double our prize pool to $20,000 with 1259 winners.

All you have to do is click on this link to go into the running for the giveaway here

  • Looks interesting for sure!

Few questions - Is there a maximum amount of code redemptions per user, or can one person potentially win a $1000 prize and then a $5000 prize or is it limited somehow? And is it instant withdrawal or is there a waiting period like with normal cashback?

      • +3

Yep so the codes are first come first served, which just leads to overloading of their servers… instead they should have had the winner randomly selected from whomever redeems the code….big fail to create their own denial of service attack, i predict their servers will or have crashed …

  • Nothing for the workers

  • +5

App crashes as soon as they start. Solid work with your load testing, shopback.

    • -1

Ozbargain'd? We're working on the next giveaway with all the remaining codes currently.

  • +5

just says oops something went wrong every time

  • +1

    it keeps failing

  • +3

    what a crap event

  • +3

    op something wrong with app

    keeps throwing errors

  • To be honest, the people I feel sorry for are these clowns. Shopback that is.

    What a disaster…

  • +2

Time for them to give up on this failed promotion, give everyone free $10 coupon with code 'IMSORRY' and move on.

    • +2

      2.5k people x $4 = $10,000 and 2.5k happy people
      250 people x $40 = $10,000 and 2.3k disappointed people
      I don't get it either.

  • Clowns are morons. Failed crappy thing.

  • +3

its actually generating bad publicity for SB looking at comments. Now the live event has been paused.

    • Yep. What a mess.

  • now the video has gone

  • +1

Hahaha, looks like it just went down? What a clown fiesta.

  • Yep, gotta move on now. I think previous ShopBack promotions are much more engaging, interesting, and more likely make me want to spend $$$, than this promotion :-(

    • Thanks for your feedback and sorry to hear this. We will be running another giveaway shortly if you were interested in participating.

  • +6

Well that's one way to confirm that your server cannot handle the load.

    • Bit confused, I thought it was being hosted on Facebook. Whatever though, time to move on. Waste of my time.

      • The server that redeems the codes likely crashed under the load… not to mention it's open to abuse - someone could have thrown the whole dictionary at the code redemption system and would be lost in the noise…

        • Yup… Honestly regret spending any time here.

      • Redemption is via ShopBack app, which failed with "Oops, something went wrong" instead of "Sorry, better luck next time". Facebook only used to live stream the event.

        • The Facebook livestream is down as well.

  • +1

Open To VIC, WA, QLD, TAS, NT, NSW

I guess I am not eligible as a SA resident. :(

    • +7

      You're not missing much.

      • Or anything, actually. Whole event went down.

  • shittiest promo i ever seen. this is even worse than the ebay $99 airpods

  • Lol where did the live video go?

    • +1

Unfortunately we suffered a FB live outage, however we're working on an updated giveaway to distribute the remaining prize pool!

  • +9

HAHA one of the Facebook comments - "Dody Reynaldi Time to move to cashrewards i guess"

This definitely isn't a good look for you Shopback, and it's not just Ozbargainers' goodwill you're losing through this event.

    • +2

I don't think people are gonna care, people will just use the cashback site that provides them with the greatest return.

      • +3

I certainly care, when CR and SB have the same rates e.g for Amazon, I know which I'll be using in the future, when I used to swap between. Will likely only use SB for the $2 promos now, unless they somehow find some way to turn this event around.

  • +1

STATUS UPDATE: Wow, it looks like we may have suffered an outage on our reward function. We're looking into how we can get back online. We'll keep you updated.

    • This is a joke.

      • +1

        yup. not funny

        • +2

Yep, a tragic waste of all our time. Please ShopBack, don't repeat a promotion like this.

  • Did any Ozb'ers even win anything?

  • +2

When there's only a few codes, they all go the skilled and prepared.

If they had dropped 100 $1 codes all at once, it would have been much more fun. More winners, and less chance of someone taking it all. As it stands, I'm liable to believe that most codes never worked to begin with, and the money has been funneled to a relative or something.

    • +1

Yep, can't see any Ozber's marked as having won through this competition. Makes me think those who claimed to have won on Facebook were just bots actually, since a Facebook account is much easier to fake than an Ozbargain one. Either way, this competition leaves a really bad taste in my mouth and is a terrible look for Shopback.

    • They did a 50x$5 code before the video went down, sadly the redemption server was already broken so it didn't matter.

  • +4

Couldn't handle 2.5k users? Pretty weak tbh.

    • Indeed. And as well, what tiny subset of their customers are willing to watch a bunch of clowns live streaming during business hours? And can't even handle traffic from those users.

  • +5

Wish we could downvote competitions. What a clown fiesta.

  • +1

now people are spamming their referral codes on facebook

    • Yup. Surprised it wasn't happening during the livestream though I guess people were more focused on trying to win. Now there's nothing left to hold them back.. lol

  • some dude on facebook

New reward everyone gets a share of the $10,000

    • +1

Yeah, I feel like if they just gave everyone $4 most people would be happy. Would be better than this, where nobody got anything and everything's down…..

  • +2

Inclined to think this was rigged anyway. No Ozb'ers won anything, and I know for a fact there were more than a few of us on the stream….

    • +1

probably is. we're pretty skilled so if no ozb'ers win anything, its rigged

      • That's what I was thinking. We tend to be the best at this sort of thing, if none of us won, then who did……?

        Probably Shopback.

    • Hey Zazer, definitely not rigged. As shown below we did have some winners on this thread. However, we've still got hundreds of codes yet to be redeemed so we're working on the next giveaway so you guys can hopefully win some cashback then!

      • +1

Yep, saw a few people saying they'd won. Still, this whole event was a massive disappointment, there's no denying that.

  • Anybody knows what have been the codes so far?

  • -1

    I won $10.

  • +2

ShopBack Australia Hi guys, unfortunately we've suffered a FB live outage! We're working on getting it back up ASAP so you guys can win cashback :)

There's your problem (you are using Facebook live stream)

    • +1

They just turned off commenting on the facebook posts because everyone is spamming it lol

ShopBack Australia Hi guys, unfortunately we've suffered a FB live outage!

    Down down, everything is down.

    • +1

You figured it out! Shopback is telling us they're joining Coles in the supermarket business!

Because they certainly are doing something wrong as they are.

    • +1

As you may have seen we did suffer a Facebook live outage earlier which caused our giveaway to end early. As a make good, we've organised to double our prize pool to $20,000 with 1259 winners. All you have to do is click on this link to go into the running for the giveaway here

      • Nice, thanks for the gesture of goodwill.

  • +1

I won $5 before it crashed. Proof: https://i.imgur.com/o6pW6A2.jpg

    • Hmm. Thanks for confirming, insane that only two people won out of the entirety of Ozb'ers who were undoubtedly trying to win.

    • It has an expiry date?

      • +1

I think that's just the date the code expires, not the cashback itself. It says, "This reward code has a limited quantity of 50 and will expire when maximum quantity has been redeemed. […] To claim your reward, add your reward code to your account by 15/08/2019."

    • +1

Congrats! We've still got hundreds of codes to be redeemed. We're working on getting the giveaway up and running again ASAP. Thanks for your patience guys!

  • I guess the promo ended? xD

  • Quickest 2 hours of my life.

  • Hi guys, unfortunately we suffered a FB live outage earlier so had to pause our giveaway. It looks like some of you were lucky winners and were able to redeem codes. We're working on an alternative so that the rest of the prize pool can be given away to our customers. Thanks for your patience and hope some of you on here will be lucky winners in the upcoming giveaway -Team ShopBack

    • There is still 20 more mins. Do we still wait?

      • It'll be rescheduled for another time. We'll let you know when to expect the giveaway. Thanks for your patience!

        • will the rescheduled time be emailed to us?

        • Ok then. I did played and waited since 2pm, guess these things happens

        • +2

Hope we get some advance notice after already spending 2 hours on this today

          • @JaeTee: We'll definitely allow for sufficient notice for the upcoming giveaway! We'll keep you guys updated.

        • +3

Next time do it on Twitch or something since Facebook's live stream delay is different for everyone.
E.g. for me it could be delayed by 30 seconds but for someone else, it could be 20 seconds

        • Hoping that day workers have a chance!

    • +5

Pretty poorly planned and managed if I do say so myself. Intrigued as to how you guys plan to distribute the rest of the prize pool, since this was obviously a terrible way to do it.

As I said earlier, this did nothing good for your brand. You guys need to figure out a better way for the rest.
