    DONT WANT TO SPEND ALOT

You forgot to add "DONT WANT TO LOOK FOR ONE MYSELF".

  • +7

Full respray will cost more than the car's worth, drive it as is.

  • You will not get a full respray for $1500. After all the tools and consumables for prep work, you could probably do it yourself for that amount if you used pressure packs from the $2 shop.

Also your caps lock is on.

  • +7

    Sharpie and a long weekend

    • +2

Few beers too. A man's not a camel.

  • +1

Just wrap it yourself, nothing to lose.

  • +3

You won't even get it prepped for paint for $1500. Anyone operating at that cost, will just lay the cheapest crappiest product over the existing paint and clearcoat, probably over any bird crap left on the roof too. Any existing issues with paint peel, will continue with the new layer of paint.

I'm imagining some random guy's garage rigged with spray-paint cans mounted to the walls and ceiling…. all tied to one rope.

      • +2

Or attached to a low-level explosive

I can see it now, you drive your old beat up green vehicle in, reach out the window, pull down on the rope hanging from the roof trusses, a cloud of red haze instantly fills the room, red paint spraying from the nozzle of every paint can. Within seconds the red haze is so thick nothing can be seen, your world turns red, your lungs fill with thick wet paint and you begin to drift out of consciousness.

Everything begins to turn black, your life is slipping away, void of oxygen, your body slumps against the wheel, setting off your cars horn. The loud blast shocks you just enough that you find the strength to move you hand, still hanging out the window. In the haze, you feel something brush against your palm, it's another rope. In one last effort before you body gives up on you, you clasp your hand around the rope and pull down hard. Immediately, fans on the ceiling begin to spin, the whirring of their blades pushes the clean air from the roof cavity down into the garage. As the red haze begins to thin, you cough for what seems eternity, thick red coagulation spew from your mouth. Your lungs clear,

You can breath again. The taste of paint still lingers on your tongue, but you continue to inhale progressively cleaner air. After a few minutes, your finding your grasp on reality again and step out of your vehicle, you admire your handiwork, you car now gleams a beautiful blood red. Not an inch has been missed. You think to yourself "my plan worked to perfection, and they said it couldn't be done".

You drive out, wondering what lays in store for you in the pin-striping bay.

lol well said. I'm weirdly wanting to know what's next.

This is like some sort of automotive sprayers fanfiction, and I want chapter 2.

        • This was amazing, considering it was describing a makeshift spray paint set up haha. Let me know if you have any published!

          • +1

@HighAndDry: Thanks all, no part two, it's not in the ops budget I'm afraid.

This respray might work & well within your budget https://youtu.be/5WjYj1QtVIg

  • Respray speed stripes and it will be cheaper

  • Yes

  • +4

It would almost double the value of the car. Fill the tank up and you'll be in danger of over-capitalising.

  • 2009 SX6 Toyota Aurion Sportivo want to respray the whole car

    Mmm. Why?

    • +2

Studies show it makes it go faster, and if he adds racing stripes, Fast and Furious Toyota Camry edition is unlocked

  • Why bother ?
    It’s 10 years old car.
It’s only Toyota Camry, not like a collection car or something ?

    • +2

      But it's a sportivo.

  • A budget respray is just that.

A quick rub down with absolutely minimal prep then a quick spray.
    Probably only one coat.

Used to be called a "blow-over"

Would wash away during the next storm.

Its just a quick dress-up to get top dollar if you are selling and nothing more.

But as others have said - not worth it

  • Full resprays done by professionals are around $5000 and up, depending on how much of the car you want taken apart so that all the little details are painted as well.

  • +2

Cheaper to sell the car and buy a different Toyota in your chosen colour.

  • +2

    Yes it can be done
    $1500 no problems
    Mobile spray is better option
    Setup on the driveway
    Mask the fence with newspapers
Don't worry about masking the driveway or plants. This will only add to the cost
Don't need to strip back the paint just go straight over it. The existing paint will act as a layer to protect the metal and avoids rust.
Let any overspray dry completely for the full mobile spray effect
If it rains that's no problem as any paint runs will go into the stormwater.
If neighbours ask you "oi what's going on ere mate?!" Just say "I don't wanna spend much on my Sportivo mate!".

  • +1

    Two options.

    1. Contact

    2. Pm. I could probably do it for that price. I’ll need a few pictures front, side and oblique. Take about a week as I’ll need to fit it around my other jobs.
The problem is for that price I can’t promise you choice of colour but look here for my available ones to see what you could get.

    • +1

      Option 2 is photoshop?

      • +3

Hey it’s OzBargain, so it’s MS Paint.
