Banggood Shipping Parcel Not Received by Australia Post

Ordered a cheap 10" tablet from Banggood. I have bought heaps from them in the past without issue. The order shows as being shipped 5/7/19. However the AusPost tracking site still shows "Shipping information approved by Australia Post Sat 6 Jul • 12:51pm. Shipping information received by Australia Post
column time and date, Sat 6 Jul • 12:20pm"

Enquiries to Banggood indicate that they believe it to beheld by Customs. I called Customs who helpfully searched their database for the tracking number and came up with nothing.

In an emailed response from Banggood they say "We are sorry that your order 69149446 was held by custom. We advise you to know more about the import regulations and tariffs of your country.

We really understand your situation, would you mind downloading the invoice of this order in your account to complete its customs clearance procedure soon? You can download it by going to "My Account” – “My Orders” – “Order Details”-“Download Invoice”, we would be delighted to provide you with any documents or invoices necessary to facilitate the customs clearance procedure.

However, we kindly inform you that customer is responsible for paying all customs charges and import duties if orders without a tariff insurance. Below you can find more information about our policies for the tariff insurance"

I selected this shipping option "Free shipping via AU Direct Mail Shipping time:6-13 business days" GST of 10% was collected by Banggood.

Any suggestions about where to next. Should I wait longer or seek a refund via Paypal?

I've had parcels from China held for ages in customs, longer than a month.

This started happening after the Government passed legislation where they ask foreign businesses to collect GST. I guess the only way they can enforce the tax collection from your purchase is investigate the purchase.

WTF? Where's the stinging critique of Labor/Liberal goverments, their policies and the sheeple who continuously vote for them? It looks like all the negative votes have softened ol' Diji1.

    • I thought you were meant to get a notice if the shipment was held by Customs? I had been concerned that Customs may have held it as I paid only $110. AU They may have thought that the price was understated to avoid GST. When I called them yesterday they assured me they were not holding the package.

    Hmm :/

There is no indication the package has even arrived in Australia as yet. Good chance that either (a) still being held at the overseas centre or (b) initially sent to the incorrect destination country.
If you ring Australia Post they can check their internal systems to see if the package has actually arrived in Australia.

  • I contacted Australia Post. The offered me an email containing the contents of our conversation. I have forwarded this email to Banggood. The text from Austpost; Thanks for taking my call just now and I hope it wasn't a bad time to call. I am sorry that there has been a delay on this parcel but I'm glad you reached out so I can help explain the scans you can see.

When a customer creates a shipping label through our website this creates a Manifest Received scan and then we accept the scan as you can see in the tracking for the 6th. After this we usually see a Sorting Facility or Gateway scan showing that the parcel has entered the mail network.

"At this stage there is nothing to indicate that we have received the physical parcel yet so all I can advise is to contact the sender to confirm that they have sent it. If it is coming form China we will still see a Gateway scan so we definitely don't have the parcel yet. I really hope the sender can help you further and if they advise that they have sent the parcel then they will have to contact the Postal Authority they lodged it with to launch an investigation."

As Diji1 said, sometimes they can take longer than a month.. 6 weeks.~ ~
I have seen where an item is shipped to europe or even africa before being sent here. It is all to do with getting the cheapest freight deal at the time regardless of how long it increases the delivery date.
That customs yadda yadda is a standard response… I have had that one, ignore it.
Last time I claimed non delivery I received a refund and a week later it finally arrived. Wasn't BangGood though.
Did you pay via PP or CC? Watch your time limit for a non delivery claim.
