Why people just don't use their old phones?

      Use any app
      Any provider
      Good camera
      Better software
      Internet connection
      Wi-Fi
      Cellular connection
      GPS tracking
      Music player
      Video player
      It's free
      ….
      Even more

Becuase not always accurate to your place

      • +2

Because your phone doesn't have temperature and humidity sensors?

        • -1

Some phones do but that doesn't matter, you are not looking for the climate of your bedroom! You just need a Bluetooth/WiFi temperature, humidity sensor.

None of these devices are more advanced than the professional weather stations and the most advanced supercomputers and satellite data that is used to give you the most reliable weather information anywhere in the world.

These devices are a joke, only good to show outside/inside temperature for $35!? Literally toy level. (I have one of these and also the wireless sensors)

          • @[Deactivated]: Why the hell would you spend money on a phone, a can and string can do most of the functions.

Or why buy Coca Cola, plain water with some flavouring does the same.

Takeaway coffee at $5 when you can use instant.

A FCUK T shirt when you can buy one at Kmart

            • @RockyRaccoon: The entire point was to not buy a new device! I am not sure if you wanted to prove my point or fight with yourself!

By all means if you have a simpler and cheaper solution, don't waste your time, money, energy and resources.

I have this unit. It's useful to show the outside and inside temperature

Get a Google home mini ask, ok google what is the weather today, you don't even need to move your ass.

Who the hell would voluntarily bug their own house!?

Do you own a mobile phone? A smart TV?

        • -1

Still, people seriously don't need these "smart" speakers. Why add another source. Also you probably have a different brand phone to your tv so thats 2 companies gathering your data why had a third.

          • +2

@Mooncakes: Why? Well it can control my lights/aircon/doors/tv and check weather via voice. Just as I said , I don't need to move my butt 😆

            • @boomramada: you can do pretty much all of that with your phone

              • @Mooncakes: True, but I don't carry my phone 24/7 and I don't need to unlock my phone either.

                • @boomramada: I know Google has a lot of Data but seriously can it tell me the room temperature inside my house?

  • +2

The annoying thing with these units is when the battery needs changing and you lose your historical data.
Still this is not a bad price for telling the outside temp.

  • Outdoor humidity (assuming you can get a decently acurate dew point measurement) would definitely be useful for anyone that's running an evaporative AC

  • +1

I have a Holman unit at home, complete garbage. Constantly shows higher temperatures.

Full station with external wind speed, direction, rainfall and temperature sensors.
