$500 Cashback if You Have 5kw or More Solar Panels, CBA Home Loan (Balance $50,000+) & CBA Transaction Account @ CommBank

2160

Just saw this and thought I would share. If you have a loan with CBA and an account you can get $500 bucks. Don’t need to borrow for this. And can still have time to get solar added.
Are you eligible?

You may qualify for this limited time $500 cashback offer if:

Installed solar panels have an output size of equal to or greater than 5 kilowatts (kW)
Minimum home loan balance is $50,000 or more
Address where solar panels are installed matches the address we have listed as security for your home loan or investment home loan
Property is not an apartment or commercial property
Account holders have an open Commonwealth Bank transaction account for us to deposit the cashback

I know I pay too much interest with CBA, but better $500 in my pocket than theirs.

Can't refinance unfortunately due to current lending criteria.

    • OK.. application for $500 has been lodged via my banker.

      Thank you OP.

  • I am in the same boat can’t refinance so will be stuck with them for long time. I will head to the local branch if weather permits today and apply.

    • Fortunately I have a reasonable rate (well not compared to loans.com.au).

Never thought the day I complain about a sub 3.5% home loan as being too expensive! lol

My Lending Manager processed the claim on my behalf this morning, said it might take 4 weeks to receive the funds.

    • Did u get any receipt? or Document that shows u applied? My branch didn't give me anything I just get a reference number?
someone did mine who was unprofessional. I'm a bit worrying.

Just went into a branch with my invoice and certificate of compliance and they submitted it.

Was also told 4 week wait.

Awesome news, $500 back into my pocket!

Love it how some people still manage to complain about this.

  • Went into my branch today and they did not know anything about it … called the number and have to submit through netbank

  • Also went into my branch today - took a while as they had no idea about it, but eventually was submitted (took copies of my paperwork in) and bank employee said it looked like I was eligible and I will be contacted to confirm which account for deposit of cashback!

    • My branch did not lodge for me :( :( just called the number that I could have done .. they did their best with the info they had I suppose but I would have liked to get it lodged today (I had all the docs with me)

      • Don’t know why they wouldn’t do it, clearly says on the CommBank site that you can Visit a Branch to claim…

  • I have a solar system installed by previous owner. Any idea how I would go about getting the necessary paperwork?

    • Speak to the previous owner?

      • Not an option unfortunately. They were uselss anyway. Didn't have manual and documentation for anything related to the house.

    • Check out the forms on the web site. It explains what you need to do.

  • Wow, this'll be great…..if only I had a $50k homeload and 5KW min solar panels…also why is OP in penalty box?? What did he do wrong? No wonder no questions here have been answered by him…

  • The Game of Waiting begins.

    • Can't wait to see season 8 of that show.

      • Next episode "Watching the paint dry"…

  • My branch had no idea about it but we’re willing to learn. The lady told me I needed to provide additional paperwork until I pointed out that it said “Paid tax invoice OR…” Finally got there.

  • Can we claim now and refinance once we get the cash?

Made a 2 minute phone call to the 1300 number this morning. he confirmed i was eligible, sent me an email with a reference number. I sent the certificate with the reference number back to the requested email and now just need to wait.

Currently paying 3.55% with 100% offset. curious to know what others are paying at CBA? (Not interested in other banks, i can look that up myself)

    • +1

Good question, I'm also interested in hearing what others have as their interest rates.

(For the record, I was with CBA but moved to BOQ specialist so as per your request will not share what I rates I get)

Went to the branch they had no idea but they called the head office scanned the documents and of it went.

I am fixed so probably doesn’t count till January currently paying 3.89%

You're doing pretty well. I was stuck on 3.70% variable with offset (Wealth Package). I asked the question tonight when I was enquiring about the solar and they took it down to 3.53%.

    • +1

      3.46% wealth package, PPOR

    • +1

      3.43% here

      • Is your loan balance a decent amount (at least $500K)?

    • I rang them yesterday and they offered me 3.38 with offset but wouldn't budge on annual fee so I still hesitate

      • Nice. I'm guessing you have a loan balance over a million/multiple properties?

    • I got 3.38% with 100% offset with wealth package

      • Hi @Manish87, that's pretty good deal - I am on the same deal with the CBA (Wealth Package,100% offset etc.) but I am paying 3.43% and they wouldn't give in although I threatened them to switch banks (they know how much hassles involved so don't fall for my threats). Which branch are you dealing with? Thanks

        • Hi
I have been dealing with one of their lending manager directly. She looks after my finances. She has moved couple of times in last few years but currently located in Caroline Springs branch. Cheers

is Solahart qualify for this deal?

  • +1

Just called the phone number - they create a case number (reference number) on your behalf and convey these details back through your netbank inbox. The instructions include the email address to submit your final application to including the required attached documentation.

  • Thanks heaps for posting this deal!

  • Called Comm Bank, Got Reference Number, Email all the details and attachments as requested… Will have to wait for 4 weeks to get $500 in my Bank Account :)

    Thanks OP ..!!

  • Anyone received their payment yet? I know it says up to four weeks but would be interesting to see when people start seeing the cash.

    • Not yet.

    • Not yet…it’s been over 3 weeks

      • Exactly 3 weeks to the day for me. I'm hoping it comes in before Sunday as I have plans for that money!

  • Got my solar install finished today to take advantage of this deal. The things ozbargain makes me buy lol

  • anyone been paid yet?

    • +1

Not yet. I'm refreshing netbank multiple times a day, haha.

      • Get the cba app and turn on notifications. No need to check manually.

        • I’m not sure about that. The auto-reply email I got when I submit the application states:

If your request is approved, the $500 cashback will be credited to your Commonwealth Bank transaction account after this time, without further communication. You’ll see it in your transaction listing with a description of ‘$500 cashback’.

          • @Spootage: You get notified of every transaction in the app, ever, instantly. I've been using it for years…

            They're not email notifications.

            • @Viper8: Touche. Never thought of that. The only money I ever have coming in is my fortnightly pay and I don't need a notification for that!

  • Confirmed receipt of $500 in my bank today description "GREEN CASHBACK" exactly 4 weeks (to the hour) from the day I applied.

    • Just got mine too.

  • The eagle has landed folks! Just got my 500 dollarydoos from Commbank. Woohoo!!

  • Just an update, my $500 just came in with description "Green Cashback". - Application lodged in Branch 6th August

  • Got my $500 today. Thanks OP.

  • Got my one today too, looks like CBA is processing them all eventually. Thanks OP!

  • Just received my payment as well. Thanks again, OP!

  • Got mine today too. Although, they paid it into my wifes personal account instead of my account and I was the one who submit the application.

  • +1

Enjoy the small windfall folks. Got mine in account too.

  • Just got mine

  • Received mine .. Nice

  • I was declined with 4940w of panels, CBA citing "it's not 5kW."

    • +3

ooof, technically they're right since you're off by 60W to meet that minimum 5k mark but badluck for them not making an exception being close to the mark….

  • Edit*
Received mine 2 weeks ago, 3 weeks after submission for a new install.
