Samsung S8+ 2 Months out of Warranty

I've had my S8+ for 26 months and the battery seems to have degraded a lot. Once it gets to about 30% left, it can power off without warning or quickly drain to 15% or so and then power off.

I purchased it for $1330 from mobileciti so just feels bad to have paid so much for it and now it looks like it's degraded. I'm assuming my options for warranty are little to none? I'm not sure if this ACCC talk of a "reasonable" period of time applies here [where warranty can still be valid despite it technically ended, if consumer paid a certain amount for a product).

  • Little to no chance of any warranty repair, even within warranty, it would be tough. Your best bet is to just pay to have the battery replaced.

Mobileciti will not want to hear about it.
Try sending to Samsung directly and see what they say.

Tends to happens with batteries, even more so if the device isn't charged correctly

    18 months is a reasonable time. 26 months isn't.

  • battery is wear & tear

  • Batteries are a consumable product and need to be replaced from time to time. Depending on usage I think you'd have a hard time arguing that this is a faulty battery after 26 months of use as opposed to it coming up to its end of life.

battery is a consumable and degrades. 26months sounds about right for a battery.

you wouldnt expect the car dealer to give u warranty for your car tyres after driving 26months or brake pads…

  • Sorry to hear, but that's about the life expectancy of any phone nowadays really. Maybe next time you should buy a cheaper phone(older generation flagship) and think of it as a 2-3 years assets.
