So glad I got the $40/80GB deal!!!

    • Hijacking this top comment;

Does the 20% discount on that $40/80GB plan expire after 12/24 months, and we end up having to pay more?

      • Expires after 24 months.

  • Grrrrr.. I was going to switch to the $30 plan for Optus Sport. At $39pm, no deal.

    • Yeah im in the same boat the season starts this weekend and im current 12m contract ends in a week!!!

      • My Telstra contract is due to end. The missus had Optus until two weeks ago so we had Optus Sports, so I was going to switch. I think I'll just either pay $15pm for it and use Boost or hope that MOTD finds it's way onto my HD.

  • Try hive or moose mobile - much better deal and on optus network

  • They are Holding EPL fans to Ransom because they have removed SBS coverage and know they are the only way to get access to the competition.

    Cya Optus

They are basically bumping up prices because they know Telstra's current plans are complete rubbish.

They don't need to discount to compete - so up go the prices.

This was on the cards as soon as Telstra's last update came out.

  • This is their biggest bullshit move since killing virgin. Plans are mor expensive whole offering only half features eg int roaming

  • Good news for Telstra. VHA/TPG are completely absent from the market so it makes sense for Optus to increase prices. I'm pretty glad I got the old $40/80GB deal… I just hope it doesn't increase in price once the 12 months are finished.

  • They have increased all the mobile plans as well, what a joke.

Yep so the Optus Plans are now an absolute joke. But I'm currently on a $40 per month sim only plan and this might help someone as well who is already with Optus.

I started a chat with optus about 3 weeks ago asking if the Spotify & Netflix / Stan FREE Streaming was included in my contract and they said no it wasnt and I pushed and said well I thought it was, it was included in previous deals, not this one etc, etc.

In the end, they gave me $5.00 off per month for the streaming but turns out I have the Free Streaming now and the $5.00 off per month. SCORE!

Later I showed them the eBay deal saying should I upgrade to the $50 per month plan and get the voucher. They said ultimately I wont get the voucher, would have to pay to get out of my 12 month sim only contract, but I pushed and said could you doulbe check with a manager if I could have the cancellation fee waived as I was upgrading and ultimately paying more per month.

They came back and said no, cannot waive however we can offer a $10 per month discount if you upgrade.

So there you have it, you can get discounts on your phone bill if you push!

I stayed with my current plan though:

$40 Sim Only 12 Month Plan
    Original Price: $40.00 per month
    Discounted Price: $40.00 - $5.00 = $35.00 per month
    Data: 40GB per month

    Other Perks:
    - FREE Netflix & Stan Streaming
    - FREE Spotify Streaming
    - FREE Optus Sport

you have got yourself a deal. I did a similiar thing with optus sport was meant to be free but i was being charged, they added discounts to counter the price, then i removed the optus sport, bam $15/month for 15gb data.
