Why is this so expensive? Trying to work out why I should spend the extra $$ compared to other brands.

    • thought they r the Dyson… (but minus the tech)

    • Guess just like most things, quality/features. The kmart versions would do the basic job the same but i'd expect the bigger brand ones to last longer, easier to function and from the reviews I'd expect it'll cook everything more even as well as not being as loud. I don't actually know, never had an air fryer, just going by reviews. Guess it's just how much that stuff is worth to you.

    • It is expensive for what it is. If you look at it, it's just some heating element in an enclosed place with a fan.

I did get the smaller Philips model, the 9240 and admittedly, it is v convenient and I use it quite a lot.
I mostly do chips and biscuits as well as nuggets.
Anything that can be baked. Beats my oven which takes 20 minutes to warm up.
      This is almost instantaneous.

Despite the overpaying, I am quite happy with my purchase.

You can get a KMart branded one for like $80? No idea about build quality etc.. but the Philips one is
      pretty solid.

      • I bought a basic dial-type Phillips air fryer from Facebook marketplace for $40 and it works perfectly. It’s not huge but it’s not a nearly 900% price difference smaller.

  • To be honest, the $75 kmart one is fantastic. Not sure what this $300 is doing better than the kmart one.

  • I went Phillips (eventually died) -> Kogan (still works) -> Phillips XL deal from here.

Imo the Phillips just cooks better, is bug free and is faster to cook with less turning etc required. I think my current one is 2100w, the Kogan was well below that. I think that's what makes the Phillips better and even a bit pricier.
