34 Litre 1100 Watt Stainless Steel Front SANYO Microwave - $139 at Target

240

I am in the market for a decent sized microwave.

I came across this reduced from $265 to $139 today:

Sanyo EMS8588V.

  • 34 litre
  • 1100 watts
  • 5 power levels
  • 8 direct access menus
  • Stainless steel front
  • 12 months warranty

$259 is the RRP according to the Sanyo web site
http://www.sanyo.com.au/products/home-appliances/microwaves/…

Note the site also says the retailers who sell it in Australia are Myer, Target and Leading Edge

I think it is discontinued and Myer are also discounting it - but they want $200+

Stock might be lots or none at your local Target….

You'll do well to find a cheaper stainless steel fronted microwave of this size…

Sanyo is not the worlds best brand, but there are worse…

This offer not available at Target Country stores unless stated otherwise.

If you are in the market for a similar microwave you might also want to consider this:

  • 34lt, 1100w… Definitely on da BIG side of things… A good find @ dis $$..

    • Yeah its big and powerful.

      I didn't buy it, I hope stocks last as I think I should have…

I was tempted to get one of those combo griller/microwaves - smaller but I thought the griller might be handy - anyone had experience with those as I didn't even know they existed until last night….

comes up as a SANYO rather than the sharp?

  • +1

Looks like it's not a Sharp, rather a brand assuming the name SANYO. I added that as the SANYO name has been sold on many years ago and is not the sleeping giant of Japan some may recall. Not to say it's a terrible brand, but their equipment is sourced from various suppliers in China and you may not get a consistent experience across their range. As per my comments a few years ago here - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/10517

However, 34L Microwave for $139 is great, regardless of brand.

Maybe OP meant to write "Sanyo", which would help explain the comment about it not being the world's best brand (what is?) Sharp has 1/3 of the mobile phone market in Japan and holds the largest share of the Japanese television market. It's certainly a leading brand, whereas Sanyo is not. Sanyo is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Panasonic, which acquired Sanyo largely for its rechargeable battery and solar panel businesses ("green is good", to misquote Gordon Gekko).

  • Thanks guys for pointing out I got the brand wrong - obviously almost asleep at time of posting - I will update…

A couple of years ago I got the EMS8586W for $139 (RRP$299) at one of these Target sales.
Its pretty much the same microwave. The clock shit itself on mine pretty early on.
You'd be a fool to pay full price for any of the Sanyo range.
For a basic microwave its ok.

I do miss my Sharp Sensor Touch tho.

    • I see someone did pay full price :)

  • We've looking to replace our old Sanyo with a broken door for a while.

Just picked one up. Seems well worth the money.

    • Update - It's being returned. Makes a loud buzzing noise that stops when you lift a corner. Will get a replacement as it did a good job and was easy to use.

  • There were about 3 left at the Balga store in Perth. Replaced my small Homemaker one.

    Thanks OP

  • I ended up paying $148 for the Big W model - even though it is only a 1000 watter compared to the 1100, I much prefer having a handle on the door as I've busted the last 3 push button door openers on my panasonics and they charge $100+ to repair it…

    • You must really attack that button! Gently, Bentley.
