Imagine not offering free postage on a shoebox sized order of $300.

If $299 is considered a bargain these days for light globes, I'm not going to have any cash left to turn them on.

    • It's ok - for $299 they turn themselves on.

Not if I can't pay the bills.

    • Pitty no deals on the play bar double packs missed the Amazon one a few weeks back

    • Imagine the margin they make on these simple technologies :)

  • Any info on brightness? Lumens?

    • -1

      Lots o' lumens.

    • It says "806 lumens" under description tab when you visit the product website.

      • Too low.

Phillips Hue lights are way too expensive for what they do. For that much money I would buy 12 Xiaomi Yeelight E27 RGB smart light bulbs.

I have both, and you're 100% correct. Started with the hues, got some yeelights cheap for some outdoor lighting - seems equally as good, while being slightly faster to react and loses connection less than the hue.

Of course you're getting downvotes because people don't want to believe they are losing out here

Are Yeelights tested to Australian standards?

        • Don't think so, but that means very little. They meet the standards of every place they are properly sold.

Maybe when they establish themselves well here, they will pay for the stupid little sticker

Disagree. They works. Reliably. Without network.
It is an easy install, the add-on switches are simple to install. Works perfectly even with no Internet or no WiFi.
I did have one of the Yeelight, had 1 LIFX and have few of the Kogan ones. Also I needed some GU10s.
I opted for the Hue just for the convenience. Never paid full price though, so the switches cost me like $26, the colour GU10 lights about $44, the single Hue Play for under $80, the lightstrip 2m for $70, 2x extensions for $30 each, gateway for ~$60,
I am not saying that you may not get similar experience with Yeelight, but Hue offers wider range of lights (GU10, Play, lightstrip - all colour matching) and I found the Zigbee more convenient than WiFi - especially with the number of lights I got.

  • The Bridge and two white globes go for as low as $66, there have been multiple times Amazon have sold the white globes for $13 each. The play double pack is $180 on Amazon right now and has been a bit lower.

    • Yeh has been 129 in past

  • Not a good deal, can definitely be purchased for less. Wait for the next big Amazon sale.
