Any Experiences with WondaMobile.com Warranty?

Hey everyone,
looking to get a new mid-range phone. The K20 Pro looks really enticing but not sold in Australia locally. Looked to grey-imports and WondaMobile (https://www.wondamobile.com/xiaomi-redmi-k20-pro-6gb-ram-128…) seems to have the best reviews, on trustpilot anyway. Btw I do realise a lot of the reviews are UK.

Has anyone bought from them? What was the experience like, and more importantly, have you had any need to claim warranty… was it good warranty service?

P.S Unrelated, but is it a huge difference between 6GB to 8GB RAM?

Anyway thanks for any help,
A

You're buying a Chinese phone that's not sold or supported in Australia through a grey importer, you should assume and expect absolutely no warranty (aside from maybe DOA). If any warranty is honoured, I would consider that a bonus.

If you want warranty, then you should be buying a phone locally or at least one which is sold here and has the support and repair network and infrastructure. Of course, you'll pay more, but these things cost money.

    • I do realise that, but a lot of grey importers say they have 12 month warranty (including this one), but many are said to have horrible service. Most likely would be similar (sending to HK, takes long time), but I’m hoping I’m wrong. That’s why I’m here to see people’s experiences, with product quality and maybe warranty claims.

K20 Pro isn’t available in Australia, so my other options would be A50 and Oppo Reno Z or more. But they pale in comparison to the flagship killer, so I’m hoping it would be safe(r) to get it from Wonda Mobile, rather than some eBay store or disreputable/unknown website,

I wouldn't believe that they actually have 12 month warranty and if they did, they would probably screw you around so much that you wouldn't want to send it back for warranty anyway. Same goes for their service.

That's the entire point. You can't win both ways. One of the reasons why these Chinese drop-shipped phones are so cheap is because they have no retail or repair infrastructure here. If you buy them, you accept the risk that if something goes wrong, you have no recourse. Given that phones very rarely break for no reason, you might find that this is a good deal.

It's up to you and your risk tolerance, if the thing breaks, are you going to say "well, I got it for a good price, so fair enough" or are you going to feel upset about it?
