About $2 cheaper than I usually pay for Metamucil although I've never tried this flavour - hopefully it's as good as the orange

  • Is it worth taking if you have enough fibre in your diet?

I don't think so, if you're already regular.

    Good $hit!

Orange is a much better flavour, but lemon is still nice. The berry one is awful.

The berry put me off trying other flavours, Orange is the Go.

I recently paid $25.99 for the 180 dose pack via CW/house.

14.4c per dose vs 15.7c per dose in this deal phew! Glad I didn't get ripped off :)

I’m be taking advantage of this one underturd.

    Better get moving.

    Ghost turds ahoy. Great stuff.

This flavour seems less acidic to me and doesn't tend to give me heartburn/reflux.

Just buy psyllium husk from your local health food store and add it to water, or if you can't stomach the plain taste then add to juice, my local store retails it for $12/kg.

    • Or just eat plenty of fruit and veg?

      • plenty fruit and veg is far more expensive than metamucil :P

        • But also a source for many nutrients and not just fibre.

          • @afoveht: Other than Vit C and Bananas with K+ what nutrients are you referring to?

            • @paraneoplastic: Collectively, every single nutrient, micro and macro, that the human body requires, except vit B12. (Add beans, grains and nuts to make some of them more plentiful to levels more easily consumed to get RDIs).

              • @afoveht: Sure if you eat a boat load of fruits in which case insulin resistance..

I;m not saying the other guy is right, but he makes a valid point

                • @paraneoplastic: You're shifting the issue, ignoring vegetables, and frankly not making much sense in other ways.

    • Ebay 50g $4.90 delivered, might buy to try it. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PSYLLIUM-HUSKS-50G-100-Plantago-…

Also $18 at Big W if there is stock near you. Mine seems to have plenty of the red ones

  • How long does this stuff take to work?
Also is it just husks (undigestible fibre matter), or just a high percentage with various plant matter. Any one know? (My question is about strict dietary test I want to try)

Super-annoyingly, the Australian labels on this product are lacking info.
The Orange tub says each dose (of 5.9g) contains 3.4g of Psyllium husk powder, presumably grounded.

The American label (surprisingly) gives a bit more detail, 5.8g dose contains 3g of Dietary Fibre and of that, 2g is Soluble Fibre

Looking at a pure Psyllium Husk Powder (on iherb), a 9g serve contains:
      Dietary Fibre 7 g
      Soluble Fibre 6 g
      Insoluble Fibre 1 g

  • It's not as good as the orange … but it's OK.
