  • Eco plus 1st gen was around $30 on Amazon so total price is ok but not extra ordinary and only if you can find stock on clearance item.

    • $39 for Prime Day, and that was awesome, did not last long.

Geraldton In stock - Ready for pick up in 2 hours

2 hrs is good, but it will take me 5 hours to drive there. I probably should phone to confirm first.

Is nobody bothered by these things listening to, recording, transmitting, and storing your home private conversations?

    • +1

Well, we already have phones and other tech that can track us.

Another device to add to that d̶̡̏̿ę̴̖̟̻͍̟̗͓͈̪̩̉̓̈́̉͜͜͜f̶̣̻̳̗̣̤̟̩̹͓͑͋̇͗̕̚͝i̴̡͍̬͙̯̩̬͇̮̯̱̊̍͐̈́̈n̵̡̫͈̘̜̮͉̫̳̰͍̂͂͌̇̍͠͝͝i̸̢̢̢͚͕̪͖̭̺͎̦̭͙̬̓̇̐͌͒͑̆͑́̕ͅt̴̫͔̜̰̎̀͂̊͛̚͘ë̶̛̯̺̘̙͙̪̮̖͎̜̫̔̀̍̈́̀̾͑̎̍͜ ̵̦̘̙̬̭̳̣̲̠̥͚͒̈̽͆̿̕w̸̟͈͔̥̹̒̂̓͋͋̒̎̑͜o̶̰̱̳͉̞̖̦̹̲̞̙̿̉̊͛͗͋̎̌̀̊̋̿ń̵̨̛̤̟͈̳̫̫͉̦͛͋̓̈́͂́́͆̎͜͜͜͠’̵̧̡̡̣̺̘̞̺̎̈͋͋̽͒̚̕̕t̵̜̘͔̱̩̺͍̖̹͙͉̻̲͒̈́̎͜ ̸̨̊͝͠͠ĥ̴̠͚̤̘̈̊̚͝û̵͇̫̯̳̟̪̩͈̈̋̈́͆͐͘͝͝ṛ̷̛͓͉͓͚̙̤̮̰̟͔͎̟̇͑͠t̶̼͐͋̊́́̋̎̈̿̑̍͊.̷̱̭̜̫̞̰͔̼̘̇̒̓͛̈́̉̑̅̊́̋.̵̢̡̦̯͎͑͋͘.̵̱͕̬̞̲̯̤͕̀̑̆

No, because they don't. The device only commences recording and transmitting when it hears the wake word. Wake word processing occurs locally on the device.

Alot of the problem is that the review centers hear incorrect wait word activations which have been picked up as legitimate. Alot of the testers have come out stating that they hear alot of personal info not meant for alexa to hear.

It's nice knowing that there's always someone that cares

  • I got mine for free from AGL ages ago mostly just as a Bluetooth speaker pretty good

Just how much do we need such devices to gain a greater grip on what we do and buy!. I can't believe what the purveyors of these devices are up to, the ABC has had a recent documentary series on how the information is collated and used. Next stop a microchip/barcode given to all youngsters at birth just so they can integrate the information with these devices.

To be fair, the data is really just used to improve the speech recognition. It's abit of a necessary evil if we want it to get better.

  • Although I paid $99 for mine - still think that it is worth the spending.
