Soundbar (~$1000) for Music & TV?

Whats the current thinking of OZBargain and soundbars + subwoofer?

I'm in an apartment and like the idea of a small device to play music on. But are they very compromised in sound quality compared to a 2.1 setup in similar price range (~1k including AMP).

I'm mainly interested in playing music via bluetooth (spotify) and watching TV.

I live in an apartment and own Sonos Playbar and Subwoofer. Bought it for tad bit less than $1300. Very high quality bass and sound. If you can stretch your budget, this'll be the best option.

    • If you don't care too much about bass, and you want voice assistant capability, then the Beam + 2 Ones/Play1's could work within your budget if you wait for 10-20% off sales.

  • Great deal here on sonos. Beam for $479. The bass is pretty decent on this alone.
You can always add a sub and surrounds later if you wish.

    Yes.

Depends how serious with your music you are. You could easily get a decent set of bookshelves and an amp, that will sound better than a soundbar, for half that budget.

    • Hmmm, ok thanks. I might have to start researching decent bookshelves speakers + sub.

This would be better than almost any soundbar, especially around the price range.

  • I'd agree with Sonos as well. You can go the cheaper beam and a couple of One's, then add a sub later if you want. Otherwise a Playbase/bar would give you some decent sound, then probably wouldn't need a sub later but maybe a pair of One's

    • Been very impressed with the sound from a Sonos One inside an apartment. If you add the beam + 2 Ones, is it easy to have TV through Beam but music coming from the Ones?

I've got my speakers and beam set up to all come on together so I haven't tried to seperate them.
I know you can choose a room for each One so I don't see why you couldn't, but I don't see why you'd want to either if it's in the same room?

That was meant to be a reply to you not a new comment
