Fitbit recommendation for adult.

I'm thinking of purchasing a Fitbit to help me track number of steps I walk. I've found pedometers to be really unreliable so I thought a fitbit may be the answer. I only need a simple straightforward one, no bells & whistles for an adult. Color/style doesn't matter, its more that its reliable & works & is not expensive. Would appreciate any suggestions re Fitbits or anything else you may suggest. thanks!

      That's now how it works

"…or anything else you may suggest"

        • exactly, Happy for any other brands or recommendations :)well read pingudog :)

    • Thanks for this. I just had a look. What's your opinion of it pingudog? ever used this particular one before & if so how was it? thanks.

      • I'm using a fitbit alta hr right now but would have definitely bought that one if i didn't have mine as the alta hr is double the price for the same features

  • I had a Fitbit alta HR and really liked it, was small, worked as a pedometer to track steps and sleeping and best part (fitbits app is pretty good), it lasted actually quite a few days (5 I think) with heart rate. Not sure if theres a better or upgraded version though, as I would've liked to have reduced height a bit for width.

  • xiaomi mi band is the way to go

    • what did you find good about it Archi? Is it easy/simple to use? Good reading size? :)

      • simple to use.. battery lasts about a month does all the basic stuff. the most important it is super light. I wear it to sleep so the alarm can vibrate to wake me up. I got mine a couple of years ago the Miband 2 that was $24

  • I had the newest Fitbit charge and I think for the price of $150 (cheap point) it's not worth it if you're only using it to count steps. That being said the charge 3 was fantastic if you use all of its function (I also used for swimming).

I was using it for HIIT and counting heart beats. I would try the Xiaomi ones the other people have suggested mate.

  • Fitbit makes junk that falls apart within 12 months.

  • I use a Fitbit Inspire HR that I won. I really like it except for the band buckle

Prior to that I had a Garmin VivoFit2 which was basic but did the job of tracking my steps and helping me lose weight. I'm not using it anymore so if you are interested in buying then PM me. It has a new non-OEM orange band as the original broke.

    • How good is the display brad1? My eyeballs need something clear, easy to read & a good size :) And thanks, I'll read up abit about it & get back to you if interested :)

      • I'm long sighted and it's big enough to read without reading glasses.

I haven't used it for a while but IIRC it's and LCD and if you press a button it lights up?

I'm near Newtown so if you want a look you are welcome to drop by

Thanks mate. I will check it out online first just to see what its about :)

  • Thank you so much everyone. I just got online now to respond. As a relative newbie (not a relative of a newbie! lol) I really appreciate all your replies :) And still getting the hang of posting & have yet to work out how to reply to each persons comment. :)

Fitbit as a brand isn't good.

The quality of the products isn't good.

Over exaggerating? The ACCC dragged them over the coals and made them increase their express warranty from 12 months to 24 months.

My suggestion - go a Samsung Galaxy watch.

Just really really really want a fitbit - buy it from a reputable brick and mortar store chain because I'll bet you you'll have a faulty unit before the end of 24 months.

    • It doesn't have to be a fitbit, I am open to any suggestions but I only need it to do a bsic job so I don't really want to go for a smart watch at this stage. Thanks for the suggestion though. :)

      • Do you want it to last more than a year though? If so, don't get a Fitbit.

  • Anyone had any problems with the straps or the bases of the devices against their skin over long periods?

My wife is allergic to Nickel and is reluctant to try these despite always wanting one.

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced any skin/allergic issues as the info usually states that it confirms to certain agreed manufacturing standards without really explaining what these are.

  • Hi I also am looking for a band need heart rate and pedometer but I don't want to have to use it with my phone or sync it in any way to avoid giving my health data away, can you use these bands without a PC or a phone and they will just overwrite the data in their memory?
