  • That promotion has expired by the looks of it. New link here https://promotions.breville.com.au/july-2019-coffee-beans

This is the current promotion https://promotions.breville.com.au/july-2019-coffee-beans
Not sure where Breville get the $171 value from considering they are $12 for 250g on the P&R site, yet Breville claim that 8x250g is $171

      • I think you get 2 cups too right?

        • No that’s the $231 value promo for a couple of the more expensive model machines

      • Delivery cost maybe?

      • You get 12x bags @ $171 for the BES990 or BES98

        You get 8x bags @ $171 for the BEP920, BES880, BES878 or BES870

Think they typo'd the second one should be ~$114

  • Absolute waste of money. They've been cheaper…

Spend the extra $100-ish for the BES878 from Bing Lee if you are anywhere near serious about coffee. It's worth it for the 3 second heat-up time let alone everything else!

I'm serious enough about coffee and my BES870 has served me extremely well. Makes a better cup than 50% of cafes I've had the 'pleasure' of trying.

      • Yeah… But how long ago did you buy it?

      • I agree I just got the 870, I'm more than happy , I feed my dog turn it on go to get ready. By the time I've done that the cups and holder are hot. I'm still getting use to setting up the grind and pressure but I love it and can also say that after 2 days I'm making consistent espresso that I use to pay for.

    • The pressure gauge to watch is worth saving $100! Or more, as this isn’t the best deal.

I don’t mind 30-second heat up time. I can use those 30 seconds to grind the coffee.

  • I love how everyone is forgetting that you also need to steam your milk… The switchover time and temp control is easier on the 878

    • Yes a more expensive machine has more features. Not everyone has the extra $100 to spend or sees the value in spending that extra for what you get.

If you are that broke just get the infuser/BES840 and the BCG820…

From a knowledgeable perspective the BES870 should be taken out the back and blown up. I would love to see the internals of the 878 put into it though. Maybe call it the 875.

If you can't afford the extra $100 then I'd wait until this goes on a true special again (or find a decent unit 2nd hand). I bought one new recently for $250

      • Also… BES840 is $357.30 at Harvey Norman right now. Throw $160 onto it for the BCG820 which makes it… $517.30…

$35.90 cheaper! Plus that grinder can be re-used when you upgrade to a boiler.

The only thing the 870 is better at is being more stable on the bench when wrenching the portafilter due to the weight

Went to order that instead but apparently it doesn't deliver to Perth :(

      Posting to: Australia
Excludes: Adelaide Metro, Northern Territory, NSW Regional, Perth Metro, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, QLD South East, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote, PO Box

  • Has anyone else tried to claim the Breville promotion? I bought through Amazon and attached the tax invoice on the claim…Breville said it was invalid cause it doesn't show the full amount paid when actually does on the invoice..?!?!

    • used a screenshot of the amazon invoice PDF and it was validated within an hour or two.
