New credit card needed, started a new job

quick question

need a new credit card, one with qff points, or velocity.

i started a new full time job 8 weeks ago or so with ample income, is this a fruitless exercise, or will they use previous employment / earnings as a measure. previous employment mix of long term, contracts etc.

have a decent credit score, and paid off current one always.

any recommendations for a card. i applied to st george once and they rejected it, but gave my junior colleague one who earned half as much but had worked in same place for 5 years

thanks

If they ask for proof, it is usually last 3 months of bank statements or pay slips

You'll be fine, most places give out CC's like there's no tomorrow given it's pretty low risk for the providers.

Go with AMEX, I only submitted my tax return and they approved my application. I also know of someone who forgot to send through any documentation and they just randomly approved his application a week later and sent through his card.

    Westpac banker?

  • Maybe wait till you've passed your probation period?

  • I applied for the Qantas premier card six weeks into the start of my graduate program. All they wanted were my two most recent payslips and a contract stating my temporary engagement period. Another colleague applied for an Amex card a week before me and he got knocked back – I suppose it was because I held 3 credit cards prior to applying for the Qantas one and my credit score was excellent.
