  • Do these shave better than the razors?

    • +2

No electric shaver shaves closer than a razor. However they come close and is far more convenient/quicker (for me anyway)

This is my first and last Electric shaver. Not for good reasons.

Save your money and get a normal razor. This does not do a nice even shave.

Agree with above. Just get the Gilette Fusion 5 Proshield. Beautiful close shave that an electric shaver will never get close to and you can score discounts on 4 or 8 packs of razors all the time.

$140 on Amazon for comparative pricing.
It has also been this price before for those with an itchy trigger finger :)

    • I believe that's on US Amazon though, not AU. So AU$200+

check product reviews before buying, appreantly foils need replacement quite often.

I have one of these (also bought for the same price). This is a great shaver… far better than my previous Braun. The only downside is that you can only charge it with dock, so becomes a pain if you need to travel longer than the battery life. I get about 3-4 long uses before the red light starts flashing for a recharge.

    • Which model Braun? The only one I see with good reviews is the 9000 which is expensive.

In the past they've done a good job, but I find myself needing to shave with a razor to clean it up.

      $99 isn't too bad tho

      • Don’t remember the Braun model. One of the blue wet dry models which I had for years.

I used to need to a razor if I didn’t shave everyday but I find this Panasonic can handle a missed day much better than a razor.

    • I've just bought this today, but I might go for a refund if the battery is that short

      • I have a thick beard so my morning shave takes a long time. I think most people would get much longer use between charges than I get. This model is also the #2 ranked shaver by Choice

when exactly was it 289$? in 1980?

it's a good shaver for 99$, wouldnt pay more than that

The dollar symbol goes before the digit.

Recently got an open box Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV65 (5 blade alternative to this).

Very happy with it, nice upgrade over my previous ~10 year old Panasonic which still worked fine but the battery would only last a few days.

The foil is huge, mostly a plus, you need fewer sweeps to get everything, but under the nose area is more difficult.

Much quieter than the older version and seems to cut a little bit closer. Not razor-close, especially on the neck but pretty close and even after a few sweeps.

Whereas with old Panasonic I needed touch ups with a razor, this one is good enough by itself. Do need to use some cream on neck area to avoid irritation.
