Was looking for some cheap down lights to replace some halogens and was happy to see that Amazon have them on special.

Bulbs are 5w providing 390 lumens.

The warm white bulbs are out of stock but can still be ordered (the neutral white are in stock)

  • Bunnings are around $6.5 each. So this is good price.

  • Anyone found cheap dimmable ones?

    • I've tried a number, and have had issues with pretty much all of them - either due to the transformer or (due to the lower power drain from the lights) the dimmer circuit itself. Flickering, unable to provide consistent dimming (ie it will be bright then start to dim as you turn the dimmer then stay at a set amount as you keep turning until suddenly going off), sometimes simply not coming on, etc. Best I eventually found were/are the Brightgreen DR700 10W bulbs. Really good, but not cheap though. Am going to try this haielo mob noted below, and if no luck then I'll either replace them with completely with new LED downlights from Bunnings or lifx dimmable downlights.

FWIW If you are in Victoria, and have 12 or more lights, then you potentially can have most non-led lights replaced for free (https://haielo.com/) by a licensed electrician. I had most of my lights replaced by them a couple of years ago, and they've been good. They can also do dimmable lights as well, but you have to pay for them. Actually having them come around again soon to replace the remaining lights - some GU10 (they originally only did MR16), some old school lamp bulbs, some external flood lights, and some MR16 halogens that are on dimmable circuits.
