Thanks NC and HPJ, hope I'm targeted this time around!

  • +15

I've been eBay member for 15 years or more and have never ever received any kind of offer from eBay WTH eBay Send me an offer.

    • +18

You may have turned off any send promotional marketing offers in eBay settings

      • +3

Yes, good advice, had to go digging but I found it, cheers

        • +11

Do you mind helping us out by telling us where you found it? I'm in the same boat. EBay since 1999, never got anything. That setting must be off.

Found it (might be worth adding to the OP?)

My Ebay -> Account Settings -> Promotions and Surveys (mine were off)

          • +3

@Click_It: Yes, you made a good point, I should have included where I found it, thank you for doing it.

            • @nuts: Can't find that on Android app I guess need full desktop mode? Not just mobile web

              • @CyberMurning: Yeah sorry, I was on desktop so can’t help you there.

          • +2

@Click_It: Is it in Advertisement preferences? There's nothing on the Account Settings dashboard that writes Promotions and Surveys.

            • +8

@enwar: Account -> Communication Preferences -> Promotions and Surveys .. and I assume it's just 'General email promotions'.

              • +3

@bohn: mine was "off" too :(
Thanks for the procedure to enable it

    • Same boat. Make a new account and start getting offers.

    • Been a member for 14 years but never received targeted promotion emails like this :( All of my subscriptions are ticked too. I guess I'm just too active a member. I'll have to make a second account. Just out of interest…for those of you who use multiple eBay accounts, do you use your real name for the second account? Obviously you must use a different email address and username, but do you use the same real name as your main account?

      • You can if you like yes. Having extra accounts doesn't mean one will get the promo (I didn't on the other account I never use but used to have a EbayPlus trial associated to it, now expired). No doubt have a couple of accounts increases the chances though.

        • Do you link the same paypal account with different ebay IDs?

          • +1

@stockastics: Yes you can, however nothing stopping you from checking out using an existing Paypal ID as its for payment only. Its really up to yourself and whether you would like to have the each Ebay ID (email address) linked to your Paypal account.

  • +13

Nice, although I note it's a 500% price increase from the last offer that was just $1!

The arguement is purely academic of course, as I wasn't targeted last time, nor will I be this time!

    • -1

400% increase. A true ozbargainer would know that.😜

  • +1

    I got $1 for a year

  • -2

They couldn’t lure me with a year for $1

    • +17

Lol you'd profit from it with just one purchase in a year. Either free postage or 15% off eBay. No brainer at $1

    • When eBay+ first came out it was rubbish, but now consistant 10-15% off deals, free shipping majority of stores, just takes one sale deal stacked with a eBay+ Discount code offer & it easily pays itself off, Even at $49 a year If you can’t find value with eBay+ You don’t know how to shop

      • It is good for most people except impulsive buyers like me. Bought too many toys/gadgets. Need better discipline than cave in to 10-15% off with free shipping.

Part of me is hoping to get targeted, but for my own good, it is best eBay won't target me. Knowing my luck, there is 0.0000001% that I get targeted.

      • +1

Last year they had lots of deals for plus members just to get people signed up and then it just stopped, untill they now are trying to lure people back again

      • +4

Most of the time its eligible items only and they are not what im trying to buy

      • That's nice. MEDV (My Experience Did Vary)

It's worth about $10 to me.

  • Is it worth it at $5?

    • +1

With some deals they have free shipping with eBay plus. Paid itself off I suppose.

Having said that iverall eBay plus is averag, but $1-5.. Meh why not.

  • +3

    Wasn't it $1 a week ago?

    • Hmm. I paid the full $49 a week ago.

      I don't know how I missed this.

      • Yep, I paid $0.99 20th August.

You must immediately revoke your OzBargain License!

        • I couldn't find the post on this site. I do check it.

  • not as good as $1 a week ago

  • i got mine renewed at the EVERYTHING $1 STORE

  • $1, we remember

    • +1

      Lest we forget.

  • Deleted.

  • Lol they must be desperate

    • The $1 offer showed they were. That's not a sustainable business model, but just done like that for 24 hours only to boost numbers which obviously were terrible.

  • +1

This is actual bullshit especially after mine auto renewed after I cancelled it for 49 bucks wasn't able to get it refunded either

  • I never seem to get targeted for these. Hopefully tomorrow

  • I don't get the point of the offer being targeted. No one who sees this is going to sign up when they know you're giving it away $1/$5. If anything ebay is just going to end up with individuals creating more free accounts.

    • +2

Just for one reason why it's targeted, if you were one of the few who paid full price would you be very happy to either see a banner on the ebay home page, or in an email direct telling you could have got it cheaper?

Perfect example only 2 posts above yours…

      • +1

I get that, but on the same token that's really not any different to buying something from ebay today for them to have a 20% off sale tomorrow etc. You wouldn't send this promo to people who already are EB+ members so targeted in that sense of course, but there's little reason to restrict the ability to opt into it as for those who are members and find out through sites like this, the damage is done and for those who aren't no one is paying full price when they are regularly giving it away.

  • +5

40-50% of my 26 accounts usually get targeted in case anyone is wondering what the strike rate is

    • +1

      Why so many accounts?

      • Duh, because there's 26 letters in the English alphabet of course!

How did you guys miss that?

  • Checked 5 accounts and no offer. I'd buy for $5 but that's approaching the limit.

    • +4

Deal doesn't start until 9:00am tomorrow according to the T&C's, so you'll need to wait until then to try.

  • +3

Have the invitation emails already been sent out? I didn't get the $1, hoping I can get the $5 offer

    • I saw this post yesterday and then dismissed it since I didn't get an email, but my $5 ebay plus offer came through at 10:20 today so you never know!

      • Unfortunately for me no offer has come through so far :(

  • +2

Didn’t receive the offer, guess I’ll continue to create and cancel trial accounts!

  • +4

Have the emails been sent out already? I have promotional emails on and never get targeted for anything :/

    • +1

That's what I want to know too. I've gone through the requirements above to ensure we're on the mailing list for offers but have people already received this email or are they going out tomorrow?

    • +1

Usage pattern based. The more you use that account less chance getting targeted.

  • I’m happy just making a new account and starting the free trial whenever I need EBay plus. Don’t see a point paying.

  • So to receive this should I just turn on "General email promotions" or is there a better setting?

  • purchased mine last week for $1.

  • I got $1 twice already

  • Just a FYI. When I signed up to the $1 Ebay Plus deal I got charged 3c international exchange fee. Not sure if it was mentioned anywhere that the payment processing is oversea.

    • this catches me out with my credit card too. There is no way to tell where they process the payment with some merchants. There should be some law against this loop hole. Its pot luck sometimes.

I got fed up waiting for a sale on membership, and paid the full $49 last week. Is it a coincidence that they waited till after the 10% off for Plus members was over before offering a discount?

But then, knowing my luck, I wouldn't have been targeted anyway.

If they value their customers, they should offer it to existing members as an extension to the existing subscription.

    • When I cancelled subscription a day or two out from renewal, best they offered was $20 renewal. Here is hoping for better deal or will just create another account when the need arises for Ebayplus trial.

      • +1

I only got a $20 voucher. Thought it was ok until I saw that eBay plus costs $49. Decided not to renew at that point.

Didn't get this deal this time. Guess I'm gonna not shop as much on eBay for a while longer.

        • No deal here and I rarely use ebay anymore.

      • I canceled it long ago just so I wouldn't forget.

Wanted to see how long I could go without it before being unable to resist some exclusive deal.

  • finally got a targeted deal!! now to go crazy on PC parts :P

  • +2

For the first time in my life I was happy to be "TARGETED" for something. Thanks OP. Cheers

  • +4

$49 still for me, didn’t get targeted for $1 either.

That’s okay ebay, I’ll keep using Amazon for now :)

  • I signed up for eBay promotional emails purely to get this deal and I haven’t got it! Damn!!

  • Damn, looks like I had emails for "promos" disabled, I probably unsubbed after getting one too many irrelevant "here's a list of random items" emails. Anybody got any ideas on how to trigger the targetted offer to resend?

    • You can't. If you weren't targeted you would have never received to begin with. Regardless, if you were targeted, it would still potentially show up if you try to Resubscribe and show you the discounted offer (being targeted). All I (like many others)get is the standard $49 renewal offer.

  • +1

Got the invite from Ebay and took it up straightaway. Best post OP. Thank you!

  • hi everyone. I wanna open an additional ebay ac. I was wondering if you would register a new paypal ac as well or link the new ebay ac to an existing payapl ac? Thanks

  • Didn't get the offer on any of my 6 accounts.

  • +3

I just keep getting the crappy 30 days free offer in my email, which isn't really an offer considering its standard.

    • I opened a new Ebay account today and there as NO free 30 days at all. They wanted $49 from scratch (no thanks)!
Correction: Sorry………I see by default they show as 30 day Trial (still no thanks unless I desperately need something and then enable the 30day).

  • +1

I just found the offer when I opened the app on my phone. Never had the email offer.

    • but does it show offered discount if you check via Online and if you select EbayPlus OR is this via Ebay App only offer?

  • Didn't get anything as usual

  • +1

Wahoo I got the offer email. Only $49 dollars :/. Finally got a targeted offer. Lame ebay.

  • -1

What’s the deal go get ebay plus?

  • I got the offer and paid. So should I cancel the membership now or do it a few days before due date (if I can remember) so it doesn’t charge me next year? Cheers

    Surprised I got the offer

    • You can cancel now and it remains active until next due date.

      • Cheers! Will do that now

  • I have the invitation email. But when I clicked it, the webpage says cannot process ebay plus signup now. And when I click it again, it direct me to the 30 days trial page. Anyone have the same problem? My $5 offer ends tonight 5/9/19.
