      Where OP is quoted as saying;

      I bought a Pajero.

Hahahaha… Which are, ironically, subject to a current recall where the front suspension arm may snap and cause loss of control.

Due to inadequate welding strength, the front right side suspension lower control arm may fail at one of the weld joints, which could cause the vehicle's steering and stability to fail…

Who owns the shitbox now?? :D

Ask anybody in Argentina what Pajero means!

Mercedes, Ferrari, Maserati, Mclaren, Audi, Volvo, VW, and most other manufacturers also have recent recalls…..

There are many Pajeros with 400,000 to 500,000k on them. Our 2007 has 330,000k and runs like a dream.

      What are the defects?
Airbag inflator: As it gets older, a combination of high temperatures and humidity can cause the airbag inflator propellant to degrade. If an affected vehicle is involved in a collision triggering the airbag, the metal inflator housing may explode/rupture under too much internal pressure.

      https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recall/mitsubishi-motors-au…

      What are the defects?
Due to inappropriate structure of the engine timing chain tensioner; abnormal noise may be generated by the lack of the tension control on the timing chain.

      https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recall/mitsubishi-motors-au…

      What are the defects?
The turn signal and lighting switch connector terminals may become worn during switch operation due to insufficient rigidity. This may result in an accumulation of oxidised dust on the connector terminals. Excessive dust accumulation can act as an insulator, affecting proper terminal conductivity.

      https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recall/mitsubishi-ns-pajero

      What are the defects?
A number of NS Pajero vehicles have been manufactured with the incorrect nuts used to retain the front R/H drive shaft and both front and rear propeller shafts. The threaded portion of the nut may deform on tightening, allowing the nut to become loose in operation.

      https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recall/mitsubishi-ns-pajero…

      What are the defects?
There is a possibility that the bolt welded to the manual control lever (mounted on the automatic transmission) may develop a crack when the shift cable attaching nut is tightened. If this occurs, the shift cable attaching nut torque may be reduced allowing the shift cable to move. This can result in an indicated shift position which is different to the gearshift position at the transmission. In a worse case condition if the driver selects P and or N position, actual shift position at the transmission may be R or D. If this occurs, there is a possibility of unexpected vehicle movement if the accelerator is depressed in this situation.

Yep, awesome quality control there ;)

        HAHAHAHA annandale got rekt

      • +3

        Tis merely a flesh wound

  • +2

    This is silly.
It is better for the manufacturer to actually have recalls than ignoring and outright lie to customers.
Recalls no matter how small or serious are nice things to see.
There is absolutely no relationship between long term reliability and recalls.

Toyota are quality if you have consider their reliability over the duration/lifetime of the car.

  • +1

Recalls mean the manufacturer is trying to fix problems that were identified (in other words, they do care about quality). Were you trying to make some sort of a point that I'm missing?

  • +1

Any company that would voluntarily recall their product at the busiest sales time of the year, is an absolute champion of a company (and this is not even a car thing, any company anywhere in any market doing that is rare).

Thanks for sharing, I didn't know that Toyota was such a good company!

  • +1

nothing funnier than when someone who knows nothing about cars makes a post about cars.

Toyota's manufacturing philosophy was so good it was copied by other big name manufacturers.

Pretty much every manufacturer has recalls.

  • +2

This post is typical of one persons opinion, it's like when they show the general news and it's the presenters opinion.

    Here's a great proverb/quote

Everything that is said, is an opinion, not the facts. Everything that is seen is a perspective, not the truth.

I've had Honda, Mazdas, BMW's, Mercs, Audi's, all I can say it, the most reliable car that hasn't missed a beat has been a Toyota Hilux. Not a single issue. It had gone 125000kms before it had it's first service and tyre change (yes, R623s). It's at 260000kms now….

    • +2

125k before its first oil change?

      • I would hope he means 'service' as in getting something fixed and not general maintenance.. although tyres are general maintenance, so I dunno.

  • Toyota is not different to any other car Im afraid

  • -3

This is why u only buy second hand cars

    • +1

      Why, because of recalls?

Recalls still happen years later. Just look at the Takata recall as a prime example

      • +1

        Hilarious, isn't it? :-)

Don't ya love it when people with absolutely no clue about cars or how they work take it upon themselves to share their wisdom?

        • +1

I just don't understand the brand loyalty. Like so what, you have a Mitsubishi. They don't have perfect cars and not all of them are perfect

          • +1

@spackbace: I doubt that this is about brand loyalty. Dude felt the need to share his expert wisdom on cars, except for the fact that said wisdom is basically absent.

It's like someone slips and falls while ice skating, and dude walks up to him to say "this is why I always like to eat fish". Like, WTF?!

  • Good luck finding a CVT which isn't garbage.

    • What's a good CVT?

  • My corolla of 17 years still going strong. Only issue was Takata airbags which is a pain, but at least they are fixing.

From the stories I hear from friends and colleagues with their cars, I'm really happy with my Toyota.

  • +2

OP was offended at a Toyota dealership due to being a weakling and bought a Pajero, this post of his is nothing more than dribble.

  • +1

Every service person and mechanic i have taken my car to swears by toyota and always tells me not to sell my car or if i decide to then they will buy it as they find it lasts the longest and is the most reliable of all the brands out there and they like having them in their company / personal use as a lot less issues pop up.

  • +8

    Summary of thread:
    OP - 0
    Everyone else - 1

  • +1

Just seems like they continue decent quality control after the point of sale to me. Hence why just about all their cars are famously reliable in the long term. My car was the first production run of a new model and to no surprise has had 2 recalls. Both just replacing small parts that could wear over time. I suspect many other manufacturers wouldn't have done recalls, and just left their customers to get stuffed when their power steering fails out of warranty. They got fixed during routine servicing so wasn't the slightest inconvenience.

OP would rather the manufacturer just puts out the car as is and offers no after sale support? I'm sure they'd like utter perfection in design and manufacturing but that doesn't seem a realistic goal.

  • What rubbish is OP spewing?

What has this got to do with Toyota vehicle recalls?

Toyota vehicles are priced competitively against other brands….you're not comparing them to brands like Tata are you?

I think you're smoking too much weed or have a really low IQ lol

    • +1

Toyota vehicles are priced competitively against other brands

They've shot up in price in the last 2 years. More premium features and the brand.
Toyota are a blessing to the average income worker.

Mercedes Benz, there's a douchebag car company that flat out refuses to fix issues because it'll hurt their bottom line.

  • +1

Every manufacturer has recalls of some sort, this post supposed to make us hate Toyota? Nope

At least these manufacturers don't make excuses such companies like Apple, who refuses to admit their design mistakes and make you pay a premium to fix the issue such as a case etc.

  • +2

Damn been a while since someone got rekt so bad they had to resort to disabling their account.

    • Lol someone should've taken granpa off the computer ;)
