    Bloody ripper phone for the price!

  • Is there somewhere to see what their update schedule/policy is for Android updates/patches?

    • +1

      To give an indication.. I got the phone in April/May and it was on the January security patch. Last week it got updated to the May security patch.

      Hope that helps you with your decision..

    I would pay another $30 odd for Australian tax invoice (~$27 GST), Australian warranty, and quick delivery.

      That's the official Umidigi ebay store. I ordered a phone from there earlier this year and it took 4 days from Hong Kong to Perth.

      Mine was a different model, but I haven't had any problems with it.

      ETA: There was an option for either free shipping or $10 extra for DHL. I picked free, and it got sent DHL anyway.

    • eBay seller umidigi-au-official is based in China. See past deal for comments.

      Can also vouch for quick delivery. Bought one for dear daughter from them.

      However, ZERO service. Ignored all my messages (initially wanted to ask for some accessories, then wanted to ask something about the phone and something else I can't recall) so don't expect any assistance with warranty or anything like that.

      Dx would probably at least respond but with some hassle trying to claim any warranty.

    Ordered one from official ebay store, posted Aussie post within Australia and arrived in 4 days, very happy.
    On the other hand dx.com can be a nightmare with shipping….delays….excuses….

  • Great phone

  • What do you guys think about the camera? I watched some youtube reviews and it seemed a bit average.

    • For a cheap chinese phone the camera will always be a bit hit and miss but you may be pleasantly surprised what you get for your money.

  • Is the camera the only difference between F1 and F1 Play?

    • +3

      Only other difference is F1 Play has 6GB 64GB & F1 has 4GB 128GB.

  • +3

    Can't speak more highly of my F1 non-play. Only negative is a slow camera shutter, makes it tough to get good images of my moving children. Motionless objects look great however. The F1 play should produce better photos, and so is likely worth the extra $50 than what I paid for my F1.

    Also, the battery is simply amazing. I can get 10 hours screen on time across 3 days. I have since installed an android auto head unit in my car, and because I plug in my phone now to commute to work 4 times a week, I've given away my charger to my wife to take to work as a spare. I simply never have to actively think about charging my phone. Even if I don't drive on the weekend, I'll still have 30% by Monday morning when it starts to top up on my drive to work. By sometime Tuesday it will be back to full. This is rare however as I'll usually drive at least once on a weekend and so keep it above 50%. Theoretically this smaller, slower and regular interval charging should also be better for my battery's life expectancy

  • Just ordered this, hopefully wont have to wait too long for it to arrive

  • I'm tempted but I've bought 3 Chinese phones, a Doogee, a TCL and a Xiaomi and the Xiaomi is the only one that was reliable over time. Is an Umidigi likely to be in the Doogee, TCL class or the Xiaomi class? I'm inclined to think it's the former. No evidence to back up that prejudice.

    • Yeh I have a xiaomi Redmi note 2 which is still kicking, for $265 im willing to try my luck with this one

    I bought the Umidigi F1 Play from the previous deal from DX.com. It took about 30 days to arrive, but nonetheless, I am impressed.

    PROS:
    * Great Display.
    * Great Touch/Fingerprint sensitivity.
    * Fast and Smooth (6gb Ram, CPU, GPU).
    * Good Daytime camera/Selfie camera.
    * NFC.
    * AUS Bands.
    * Awesome Battery life.
    * Sleek design.

    CONS:
    * Camera suffers a little at night (makes up for it with night mode).
    * No notification LED.
    * Speaker Audio lacks a little bass.
    * Handheld Audio directional (minor).

    My Thoughts:
    * 1080p Display - Its crisp, clear and good viewing angles. Colors are saturated and very bright. It's not too big, fits nice in pockets.
    * Speaker Audio - Sound is loud and clear, lacking a little bass, but still good audio quality.
    * Handheld Audio - Sound is crisp and clear, I find that you need to position the earpiece right over the ear to get the full volume on calls, it's minor, but I noticed it.
    * Processor and GPU - It comes close to the google pixel 3 in benchmark (pixel 3 slightly better). In real world, I can't tell a difference. It's snappy and quick, can handle whatever I throw at it, can play pubg on medium settings, no lag or stutter.
    * NFC - Works well and hits terminals without having to shift it around, etc.
    * Network Bands - I get 4g speeds, no dropouts, even functions in rural areas such as Castlemaine.
    * Fingerprint Sensor - Highly accurate, took me a couple of calibrations to get my placements right, after that unlocks 90% of the time (10% being off on target).
    * Battery - Beautiful, long lasting and not even a concern anymore.
    * Camera - with the recent update, the camera is much better (check latest reviews), it's great in daylight, what you expect out of 48mp. Suffers a little in low light/night, but makes up for it with it's night mode which will make it look almost daytime. No issues with shutter speed, very fast and minimal motion blur.

    Hope this helps someone. All in all, I'm glad I bit the bullet, for the price, I am more than happy with it.
