Using Old iPad 1 for Recipe Keeper

Hello folks, as per title, has anyone ever repurpose your old ipad1 for it? what is the cheapest and easiest way of doing it? Do I need to brick the ipad1 or not? can you share your experience? thanks

  • My dad uses his old iPad 2 for recipes, has them all saved on Google Drive as a PDF and opens them when needed. Even that struggles.
If you have patience you should be fine. Not sure if the Google Drive app is still compatible with the iPad 1 though

    • Yes if you've purchased it before/have it on your account.

  • When you say "brick", do you mean root/jailbreak the iPad?

    • yes. well mine is already bricked anyway but still don't know what to do with that..:-(

      • Have you tried the DFU restore?

    • I'm reminded of the Princess Bride movie, where Inigo Monteya says "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means".

"Bricked" means turning it into a brick - that is, making it completely non-functional. I think the OP means root/jailbreak as you say.
