Travel between 6th July and 17th December 2011

Where do these Chalets travel too, and do we need a passport when we board them ???

  • Hi Jv

The chalets as I am sure you already know are permanent structures. Travel between 6th July and 17th December 2011 simply mean these are the dates in which you must use your voucher.

  • According to the website,

    http://www.grampianschalets.com.au/accommodation.php

family chalets are $160 per night, so that 4 nights = $640

That is a 23% saving of the rack rate, (and nobody ever pays rack rate)…

how did you get 47% ????

    • 160 is two adults & $10 extra for each child, taking maximum advantage lets assume they have 4 children
      160+(10*4) = $200
      200 * 4 = $800

But that still would only be 38%
But then again all accommodations do discounts when you stay more than one day.

However I don't know if the two bedroom one means two seperate rooms joined together using the common wall door system. Which would mean two rooms ie Double the rate.
Taking into account your $640 estimate, that means
62% saving but if they actually did take the 23.4% saving and thinking it would double when they double the cost means that would come to 47%

      just my 2c

  • Hi Jv

The rates were provided by the owner of the Chalet, it seems as they are only a small accommodation provider that their website still has 2009 prices. Prices on the web were also based on 2 adults. The actual price per night was calculated on $230 a night.

I will ask them to update their website.

    Thanks

someone has been telling you porkies then…

you can purchase a family chalet room anytime for $160…

      • See spawnpoint's reply - I don't believe $160 includes kids.

  • Thank Jv.

I will discuss with the owner as this is how the deal was presented to us.

    • I'm not denying it's not a good price for 4 nights, but if i can buy these rooms normally for $160, then it's not really 47% off…

  • The pricing on their website is somewhat confusing…….

family chalets are FROM $160 for 2 adults…. extra persons $10 extra

However, I can see no way to actually determine what the price is per night, as there is no booking system. You would presumably only find out when you contacted to make a booking.
The cheapest it would be for 2 adults and four kids would be $200 per night (assuming the kids are 'persons'…. there does not seem to be any clarification about what constitutes a 'person'), which would take it to $800.
One might assume that w/ends and school holidays would be more expensive (but who knows…..)

    • i've never come across anyone that charges kids as adults… if the there are two rooms, and there already are beds, kid are included…

nearly every place we've gone too even provided cots for free…

      • +1

I can tell you that at least half of the places I've ever stayed at charge extra for some / all of the kids. Cots are often free, but not always.

        • my kids are 2 and 4 now and we've never been charged extra for kids, even when the website quotes price is for 2 adults only…

      • according to your link….
        for the two bedroom….

This room can accommodate 2 Adults and 0 Children under 12 with existing bedding. With additional bedding 4 additional Adults, or 0 Children in total are allowed. Rollaway/Extra Guest cost $10.00,

        no kids at all…. :)

        • no kids at all…. :)

they are family chalets with bunk beds

          website also says
"* Book children older than 12 years as adults.", implying children price is included…

  • Each accommodation provider charges differently. A lot have a base price for 2 adults and then charge more after that.

    • A lot have a base price for 2 adults and then charge more after that.

in my experience, that would be the exception, rather than the rule… (for kids anyway)…

  • To confirm

The Family Chalet on offer is for 2 Adults and up to 4 kids. Normally valued at $200 per night ($800) selling today for $490. The description has been updated after talking with the provider.

We have a side deal for a 2 bedroom which is valued higher due to the extra adults it can accommodate.

    • considering i can still buy the same room for $160 per night as per my link above, the saving is only 23%

    Hi Jv

At the above link you will be charge extra $40 for 4 kids. So saving is reduced from $200 to only $122.50 saving 39%

    • nope, i checked, it's only $10 extra per each adult.

"* Book children older than 12 years as adults."
