"Wireless" seems to be a little misleading in this case? From the pictures it seems you still have wires from the probe to the "base station"; and I assume from there you have a "wireless" connection your mobile? Or is this really/fully wireless?

Yes, probes are plugged into the unit and then the unit has a 'wireless' connection with your phone.
Might want to find a better thermometer to compare it to. The one you linked to is absolute junk.
All good wireless thermometers at this price point have a wired base station, that either communicates to a wireless unit or your phone.
Have the basic 2 probe non wireless one, very good thermometers
