Usual comment for Anaconda: "was" price is a joke.
This is nowhere near as good as the $399 mountain bike at ALDI.

    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-7-s…

Oh wait, it is a "fat bike", for bogans who have lost their license for DUI.

But PLEASE spend the extra $100 for the ALDI bike. this one is total garbage.

    • Any review on that Aldi bike? What are the good and bad points?

        • Review seems good, but it is no longer available from Aldi right?

      • +3

Bought it, assembled it, using it & loving it… :)

        • Which one do you mean? The ALDI bike or Fat Bike from Anaconda?

      • I've assembled mine without issue and its really good value but getting some slight scraping sounds from what seems to be the front brake disc when riding, Anyone else had this?

They also sold out super quickly :O

        • +1

@ LucasS. You might find the front brake pads are rubbing slightly on the disc. If you flip the bike over, we adjusted the quick release bolt slightly which stopped the rubbing.

Good luck getting your hands on those aldi bikes tho.. they are awesome but sooo hard to get

      • Just needed to wake up a little early on Saturday morning mate, was in queue half hour before store opening time & had no issues. Though my nearest ALDI only stocked like 3 large & 9 medium sized bikes. Large were taken in 1 minute from opening time & by the time I left store, only 3 medium remained. Crazy as…

If you lose your licence for DUI you should get shamed.

Wow lol I was being sarcastic.

Or on the Surfers Paradise Boardwalk.

  • Wouldnt mind a fat bike for this price (8 days to ponder)

    Fat tyres look ugly AF!

    • +1

Nice for riding through puddles. Make a bigger splash.

Looks like fun and good exercise, am seriously considering getting a fat bike: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxe-B_LrIdo

    • +3

20kg is very heavy - especially for a rigid frame. I think you'd get very frustrated very quickly - especially going up hills.

      • dumb question - what dos the frame Weigh ? swapping out the tires wont be simple

        • +1

I don't know but at that price the whole bike will be porky pig entry level parts. It's aimed at Deliveroo riders that will put an electric motor on it

  • +1

Thanks but I would prefer the ALDI one over this.

Seems like the Aldi one is different beast to the Ananconda one. The former is a mountain bike but the latter emphasises on the "fat" bit (4" tires vs 2.25"). The Aldi seems to have quite good running gear plus dual-piston hydraulic brakes (Hydraulic disc brakes not only require less maintenance, but they have better stopping power as well)!
Hmmm…what to choose, form or function…

    • +5

Don’t get a fat bike as your primary ride.
The Aldi bike kills this fat bike but if you already have a MTB and wanted to try a fat bike for some fun then I’d consider grabbing this as it’s pretty cheap.

      • My primary ride has a V-twin attached to it ;-) Already has a Trek hybrid and MTB, thinking about trying this fat fad without spending too much…

  • +1

    stop fat shaming bikes

  • drivetrain = 1x7 Tourney

…is there even a lower spec available??? :D

    • +2

      fixie mountain bike? :D

    • you don't want to know the basic level the Shimano OEM catalogue goes down too … :P

  • +3

People saying get the ALDI bike without realizing it's already sold out.

  • Any idea on the weight limitation of the folding bikes?

    • Bikes for heavy load should be “the biggest loser approved durability”

      • In practice 100kg, you will start feeling a bit of frame flex beyond that and the hubs etc… don't love much more. It depends a 120kg rider putting along flat pavement vs 80kg that decides to go path to road over curb will be different.

Disclaimer, i am not associated with Anaconda currently however have been in the past.

        • What I’m saying is that the bikes should be tested so that it doesn’t break when a 150kg person sits on it

          • @[Deactivated]: Bimo's question was about folding bikes, my response was meant for them.

As for 150kg on a folding bike … i can safely say that is a bad idea on any of the folding bikes i have seen from anywhere. I think the user may discover it folding in new and exciting ways.

  • Anybody know if the Fluid Bolt e-bike is any good?

    • I would like to know too

      • it does what it says on the box. Hub motor that 'runs' based on spinning the crank so basic drive train doesn't really matter as most riders on it won't be pushing huge power through the pedals. Main issue is the brakes they work however being a slightly heavier bike and often slightly heavier rider and you find you are coming into corners at 25+km/h all the time, so the basic pads start wearing out quickly. Replace them with something better when they wear out and it stacks up.

  • Cheers OP went to the store just to have a look, fell in love and walked out with one.

  • Massive gap between was and now.
