aldi brilliant 3pk for $40 (about $13.3 ea)

  • Is there any way to get a physical remote for these as well as smart phone / speaker support? Been trying to research this for the last week or so and have turned myself around in so many circles.

    • You can add these bulbs in mijia app then add wireless switch to control these things. However you gonna need a gateway for the wireless switch.

      • Thanks for pointing me in the right direction @nico8amy, will look into it tonight and hopefully bite the bullet on a solution.

        • Just be careful with Xiaomi eco system. Some products only working on China mainland server such as this bulb. Some working on Singapore server which is recommended for Oz users. Get a gateway, a wireless switch and bulbs that are working in the same server.

If you looking to get into Xiaomi eco system just make an account for the mijia app and select your desire server then see available products in the app. They will work each other fine inside the app. Another way is use IFTTT, which can utilise yeelight app to add the bulbs to your network and normally will work with available products (e.g. wireless switches) on IFTTT fine.

Philips hue is a more expensive but easier and arguably stable system.

  • Does anyone know why these are always Edison Screw type bulbs, And not Bayonet fittings?

Even after living in several 30 year old rental houses, I don't think I've ever had a light fitting using ES bulbs (only a few lamps).

    • Bayonet is only really only used in Commonwealth countries; everywhere else is mostly Edison. I'd say most lamps are now Edison, even in Australia, as they're made overseas.
In any case, adapters are cheap, even if they do considerably add to the size of the lights.

      • Are adapters safe though? I had one before, the thing was fragile.

  • 2 per customer.

  • Unable to place order?

'Sorry, only addresses in Southeast Asia region are accepted'

  • Ends up being the same at Joybuy with GST. I guess this is the new pricing for it.
