@CharcoaI: Been there done that. Even harder when you are posted overseas and can't buy physical cards so had to ask friends back in Oz to do this, and they had no experience in buying the PSN cards, and the 7 eleven store clerk forgot to activate them, etc…
You need a PS+ subscription to unlock your account? That sounds super shady.
It's because Sony completely block any access to your account on CC/PayPal chargebacks (even for transactions reversed within 30 minutes).
The only way to 'unblock' the account is to email some dodgy @sony.com email, a photo for a 12 month subscription then wait up to 90~ days for them to unblock you.
Xbox gets no love, again!
From memory seeing a similar deal 12 months ago I don’t think the origin access subscriptions accepts gift cards as a payment method. Correct me if I’m wrong or this has been changed.
You are wrong, I got origin access premium last September by using the gift cards bought from woolworths. When I was asked to renew this month, account balance is still one of the payment options. I didn't renew, because the games I want Anthem and battlefield V turns out to be flop.

I don’t believe so. I purchased an additional item worth $5 in the same transaction as the PS Plus membership and I only got 6 rewards points.
