Out of interest, is there a cable that allows you to connect a Mac Mini to an iPad, so that the iPad can act as a screen?
This is going to be a feature in iOS 13 and macOS Catalina called Sidecar.
Why? A new iPad probably has more CPU power :-)

The real problem is this release of the macmini had soldered on RAM.It is pretty expensive for an outdated machine. Better buy a raspberry pi instead of this.
With the 10% the base model 2018 model is $1124 (quad core i3, 8gb ram, 128gb SSD). Judging by everyone's responses one would have to be crazy not to spring the extra $400 for the newer model?
Spend the same as this deal on a brand new NUC, much better value.
haha…2014 Mac mini for that price…get out the here, no ssd etc.
