    $8 heater…

Typically this would cost around around 60c-80c/hour to operate
    2hrs a day for 150 days a year = maybe $180-$200 year.

    Maybe $900-$1000 over 5 years?

Compare this to a reverse cycle air con which would provide the same heat output for around 1/5th of the electricity.

Either way in terms the overall cost of heating your house, these things are never a bargain, whether they are $20, $8 or free.. or even if someone paid you $500 to use it.. still not a bargain.

    • what if I'd just use it to warm up the bath before taking a shower, can't put an ac there I reckon.

    • What is a good price for a reverse cycle air con?

Ultimately what would be cheaper to own and use over 5 years and then another separate use case over 10 years?

I assume reverse cycle air con has a lot of hidden maintenance costs like changing filter and getting it cleaned out every few years etc.

But yeah no heater is cheap to operate only cheap to purchase usually that is the gotcha.

    • This actually makes the case to buy this over reverse cycle. I wouldnt use it for 150days each year so it would probably take 7-10years just to break even if I assume $750 for reverse cycle installed (which is on the cheap side). Then if someone paid me $500 to use it I’d be way ahead.

    • $200 a year to keep a bedroom warm doesn't sound too bad.

  • Can confirm. $8 at redbank plains
