Recommendations for High End Gaming / Some Video Editing

Hi everyone!

Looking for suggestions or builds for a new PC. My last one is now 6 years old and I'd like to buy something with some grunt! I was considering waiting for PAX to see if any deals from stores there but was thinking it might not really be the best deal. Budget is around 3. I'd like something snappy. I have monitors and all accessories. Just need the tower! I have been out of the loop with parts so looking for guidance

Thanks in advance!

Current PC is

32gb ram 1333
i7 3770k
GTX 980
MSI MS-7751 mobo

I'd stretch that budget unless you only want a cheap mouse pad.

I'd start with buying either a 2080 or a 2080 Ti and see if you're happy with your current rig upgraded.

I think my cpu is holding me back as when games start to run shoddy i check resources and the cpu is maxing out.

Not a bad idea. Esp if you will end up buying either 2080 of 2080TI.

How do you know GPU is not holding you up so that you end up relying on CPU?

More for gaming or editing? If more for gaming, then go with a 2080 Ti and fit in the best components you can around it. Probably be looking at a 3800X or 9700K. AMD has the better overall chip for sure, but Intel pushes more frames. Quicksync support on Intel is useful if you edit in Premiere. It's a farce that my wife's 8700K renders faster than my 3900X, also pushes more fps with the same GPU…
