    To anyone who is wondering.
Yes you can connect any source to the speakers using the 3.5mm AUX input. But since the speakers connect to each other wirelessly you may experience noticeable latency (delay) which would cause the audio to be delayed compared to the video on-screen.
Also sound-quality on these kind of speakers is normally better using wireless audio.

    • It also doesn't support Apple Music or airplay, and Bose have moved on from the SoundTouch range so I doubt it will get any more updates.

They're quite handy though, the preset buttons on top are surprisingly useful for radio stations or music playlists.

      Works with Home Assistant.

      • Yes the specs are listed in the description.
The newer SoundTouch models have replaced AirPlay with Bluetooth, which makes sense as BT is more universal.

We have the old SoundTouch 20 with AirPlay (minus Bluetooth), got it for dirt cheap as it was a display model.
It still has been getting regular updates for the App and Speaker, was actually surprised with their consistency for such an old product.
We use it mainly for internet-radio as you said with the presets, sound is ok for BGM (background music).
Quality is good, we were concerned with it being a display model, but it has worked like clock-work (AirPlay and all).
Sometimes the rare modem/router update (restart) creates a problem for the internet-radio, which is easily solved by unplugging the power and plugging it back in.

      • Works with Home Assistant.

I thought they were only Alexa compatible?

    • I was going to post the same thing about the latency. I bought a pair of these second-hand last year. I quite like the sound, and the preset buttons on top. The biggest issue is pairing them together and the latency issue. Basically, it renders them useless as external TV speakers unless you hardwire each of them.

      • hardwire each of them.

I think if you wire 3.5mm into both (you will be inputting a ‘stereo’ signal into each speaker) so they would both output the same sound (mono) instead of true ‘left’ and ‘right’ channels.

Moral of the story, these are wireless speakers and the AUX input is only for temporary use with a wired only device.

        • My TV has RCA (Red / White) outputs. To solve the above scenario, I have two x RCA to 3.5mm leads. For one cable, I only plug it to one RCA output on the TV and connect it to the left speaker. For the other, I do the same, but for the right.

          • @GaelicAU: I see so it is working for you.
I think generally if you want low-latency you are going to need to hardwire.

Would not recommend investing in the SoundTouch platform as it's been abandoned by Bose on their newer products
