Was looking for a new sound bar to pair with my 55 LG OLED C9 I just picked up from Appliance Central. Good reviews by all accounts in the sub par $200 range. Bluetooth, can be controlled with the TV remote - TV must have that Arc. Great for a small lounge room. No doesn't have Dolby Sound (like the new TV), but that would be amazing balls. On the fence to buy it, or spend more $ to match the TV's goodies

It has been posted a few times before and has had a good response from the ozbargin community

    Great soundbar!!!

    • +1

Agreed! My first sound bar, I've been using it since 3 months. Nursery rhymes sound so good on it :D

    • +1

      Agreed.
Spent like $4k on speaker set with AV unit and find I use this soundbar 90% of the time due to convenience & lower power consumption. The sound is pretty good.

Seems like a good deal considering Aldi is selling a soundbar for $129. Pay a little bit more and get this

    • +3

Can confirm the Aldi soundbar is absolute garbage, grandparents bought it and got sick of the terrible sound after 2 weeks and they're half deaf. Bought this for them to replace it and they can't speak highly enough about it

      • I was seriously considering the aldi unit, due to the Aldi 60 days free rental.
Will give it a miss and think about this as an alternative

  • +1

Would this be a good match for a Hisense R8 + Nintendo switch / Xbox one x / fetch tv?

    • -5

Personally I don't think any of those items match, they're just so passe.

Maybe throw in some color to liven things up a bit, like a yellow sodastream or something.

    • +2

I’ve heard that they don’t pair well with hisense but that may just be anecdotal

Works great with my Sony tv + Xbox but I do find voices aren’t as clear as the tvs built in speakers

      • +1

Yeah I've got P series Hisense with this soundbar.

CEC stuffs up from time to time and I'm not that impressed with the sound quality TBH.

Thinking of ditching the soundbar and replacing with Edifier bookshelf speakers.

      • Depends, ARC pass-through can be frustrating to set up but straight optical cable set up is as simple as plugging it in

        • Thanks for the feedback guys, I’ll keep looking.

    • +2

I have the 108B (not 1080B in OP) and was unable to get my hisense N7 to reliably work via HDMI-CEC. TV would frequently fail to power on the soundbar or wouldn't connect properly - tv forgets its settings. Works fine using optical cable to tv, but it means you need to use the soundbar + TV remote. Issue seems to be with the tv but maybe newer hisense models are better.

Bose solo 5 tv sound system ain't bad at all for $255.20 on videopro Delivered.

  • Worth posting the deal, but it has been this reduced to this price regularly for a while now, with the best being $165 Delivered @ Amazon AU I think.
I thought it would get cheaper by now, since the YAS-107 hit a low of $99 at one point.
Under-$150 price would be nice for the YAS-108.

  • I've never setup external audio devices from the TV before. So hooking this up to the TV via the included optical cabel is all it takes for it to work with the original tv remote? Or are there other things to fiddle around with? I have a Sony Bravia TV

    • +1

Only via HDMI to the HDMI ARC port on your TV ensuring HDMI-CEC is enabled.

      • Damn, none of my 3 hdmi ports are ARC supported. But apparently I can still run the normal hdmi IN on the TV to the ARC on the sound bar, then run a second, optical cable from the TV to sound bar. Not sure if this will work still with the same remote though.

        • ARC is what controls the auto turn on and off as well as volume.

        • yeah you will have to use two remotes. I find that I set the soundbar dimmer right down, and TV sound down, and the Soundbar volume is just set to your normal volume. We rarely need to touch the soundbar volume

      • From previous deal, people said arc and 4K pass through thing is not working. Is it still the case?

  • Hey OP, how's your LG C9? I'm looking to buy this TV

    • Fantastic, went from a old Sony 40 inch. So it's night and day. Great connectivity and really fast response time. Amazing picture

  • This or Samsung Series 4 HW-R450 Soundbar with wireless Subwoofer? Currently $176 on PLAN20 sales

    • IMO, if you want a decent HT system, don't bother with anything with a subwoofer that is below 8". Heaps of Soundbar + Subwoofers are crap because the sub is 6"to 7".

If you're going to spend money on a decent soundbar, do it right. Get this. The 10" Subwoofer will make you grin from ear to ear.

        for 3x the price..

        • That's true. But you'll likely to keep it for 5-10 years vs. upgrading a crappy one after 2 years.

  • Any tips on how to mount this? Wall mount or mount to TV?

  • Op if you haven't got your c9 mounted you might want to check measurements/space below your tv. I've been wanting this bar but don't think it will fit nicely under my b8

    • Good point, will check as I won't be mounting

  • +1

the c9 kg tv might well have a sound system built in that might be pretty.good and this sound bar might be little underdone for such a good tv ….i got the b series oled series in bedroom and the sound is really good with out any sound system.

that said i did but that soundbar for friend and she’s happy with it

  • Anyone know of a decent soundbar with sub pre out? Want to use my sub with a new soundbar

    • +2

Most sound bars will have a sub pre out, what's wrong with the one posted here?

"Decent" doesn't mean anything unless you post your budget.

  • I don't really understand why people buy the best TV in the world and then cheap out on sound. At least get something with a sub. Logitech z906 or a soundbar with a 10" sub would be a much better match with such a high end TV. Decent 2.1 or 5.1 HT system would do the TV actual justice though.

    • hey mate not trying to be smart but could you recommend one that is better? hoping to get something with considerable bass too

      • I started with a Logitech Z5500 system which can be bought for $1-200 used. Then I upgraded to a Yamaha 5.1 system like the below that can be had for $4-600 used:
        https://www.harveynorman.com.au/yamaha-5-1-channel-speaker-s…

Now I have a serious 5.2 system. I'm not interested in soundbars so wouldn't be able to make a useful recommendation sorry.

    • don’t know what’s better for around this price point either

    • Use cases, I have a complete setup, however for my parents this suits them much better as it has less bass and clear voice.
It’s a perfect match for their needs and large TV.
      This unit packs a punch.

  • Bought the Yamaha YAS108B Soundbar a few months back. Family so impressed, I have bought this one as well for them

  • +1

Anyone got this already? From previous deal, people said arc and 4K pass through thing is not working. Is it still the case?

    • Have to use arc capable cables. $5 on cotd, expensive cables may not support arc. Just make sure it says arc on the packet

      • thanks for your reply:) Did you experience any issue with 4K pass through?

  • Out of stock as of now, seems popular.

  • anyone else been charged the full price after entering the ebay code? VideoPro say contact ebay
