I'm interested to see if anyone has managed to get a good deal negotiated with telstra, that includes a good mobile phone payed over 24 months since they changed the pricing system. I know that there are deals with JB and the Good Guys, but I want to pay for the phone over 24 months instead of having to get the money together to buy one outright. I'm doubting that they could do anything like the old F&F deals, but am hoping that I'm wrong.

lol, no contracts anymore, just the plan plus phone payment over 24 or 36 months. No difference unless you want some cheap arse prepaid sim.
Really? My experience is that the plans you can have with a phone include less data. So some of the phone payment is actually in the plan (overpaying for what you get compared to a sim only plan)
maybe with less data, but all the plans are changed now, no contracts, phone and plan a seperate, leave anytime just pay whats owing on the phone.
make it easy for you, my plan is $50 with 15gb shared data, got for $40 3 months ago, my new phone coming is $1999 at $82 and a bit over 24 months.
@[Deactivated]: How does it work if you want to claim the phone as a tax deduction, seems like it would be much easier to account for if you bought it outright?

i got on the $65 for 60gb plan with a free $500 gift card from JB
then jumped on chat and got $10 off so its now $55 p/m
then at another JB today he reckons he can do $45 per month for 50gb next month for 11 more months so while not the best, its a decent effort to get a $500 card which ive used towards the iphone 11 128gb
telstra wont do deals unless you have another business line or internet/foxtel that you can package up

yeah but this is after i got the $500 gift card so i pay 1 month @ $55 [down from $65 plan] then switch to $45 but no extra $100 gift card
however this means i got the $500 gift card for effectively $45 a month
How can you switch to $45 per month?

There are lots of posts about JB deals on ozbargin. Back to my original question, does anyone have any deals through Telstra with a good phone to be paid off over 24 months since they changed the plans?
Just watch out on whatever plan you choose. A lot of the time the phone is a lease type arrangement, you don’t own it at the end.
They have definitely gotten rid of the leasing plans when they changed, and Optus has now aswell
Save up and buy a phone outright, by the time you save up the phone you want will be even cheaper or there will be a new model out. If you can't afford to save up you can't afford to pay it with a plan as that costs even more.
