How do I mount this on mazda cx5? Do I need additional cabling?

    • No the cable is long enough for it to run straight to the power cigar jack you should research it how to mount it

      • +1

I would prefer it to run when the car is not ignited. Otherwise how do I know if someone hit me when it is parked?

        • +11

I don't think it needs to run when the car is ignited. You won't get the camera back.

          • +1

@spaceflight: You remind me of my dad.

            • +8

              @[Deactivated]: My daughter?
Sorry I never came back after leaving to get the milk.
              How is your mum?

              • -4

@spaceflight: Less of this Western Suburbs talk if y’all don’t mind.

        • +1

Fuse tap it into a fuse that has permanent 12v.

          • +2

@7hours 44min ago: But also install a device to check for voltage so it doesn't flat the main/car battery.

    • +1

Only if the additional cabling went to a proper car. :-p

    • Any recommendations for a professional installer (after a neat job) around Castle Hill / Parramatta NSW? Thanks

      • I got it installed at home from Ricky 0449136366. Got his details from Airtasker.

        • +1

          How much?

  • Can the rear one on the ir be used as a rear camera?

    • +1

You can choose colour mode but it's still a little bit pink from the IR filter. Better than nothing though.

  • +14

Where's the Extra $10 off Promo? Am I blind here?

Edit: Allow me to answer. Yes I am.

  • +4

Awesome price for the A119 V3. Highly recommend the HK3 hardwire kit to make the most of parking mode on either of these dashcams.

    • Doesn’t it void the warranty?

      • Have been asking the same question and seems like the answer's yes

        • Isn't the hardwire kit sold by manufacturer, why would it void warranty?

          • +2

@dheywood: I mean void warranty on the vehicle you purchased. e.g. 7 years warranty on the car when you purchased as brand new

            • +1

@profeeder55: Only for electrical issues I assume. And not if you remove the kit when things go wrong?

              • @ATangk: I'm not entirely sure, and thus have been reluctant to hardwire the dashcam to my vehicle. AS I've read that this may void the warranty of the vehicle

                • +1

@profeeder55: Best you don't do anything to your car in that case.

                • +2

@profeeder55: It will not void the warranty for your car. That's illegal

                  • @spaceflight: Installing them incorrectly may prevent the side airbags from working properly.

                    • @whooah1979: I know that.
I didn't say anything about airbags though.

                      • @spaceflight: Airbags working properly is part of the warranty. Someone not familiar with DIY may void their airbag warranty with an incorrect installation.

    • Is it possible to connect the cam to a battery pack with passthrough charging instead?

  • Can I install it myself? How about rear cam

    • +1

Probably depends on how competent you are with Auto electrics.

    • +1

YouTube installation videos. It's not easy, but you can DIY. You'll need to run the rear camera cable from the front to the back, hiding the cable in the pillar and trim.

      • +4

You have to be careful though that it doesn't impede any side air bags.

    • -2

Can I remove this tumour myself? How about the rear polyps.

  • when 4k?

    • +3

Too much xtra cost to do 4k as well as this does 1440p, it would kill the value proposition. Bang for buck this cam blows away everything. I've just ordered my second one to complete replacement of my 119 V2's. In fact the V2's may become side cams for 360 degree coverage.

      • +3

Like one of those on a Google Map vehicle?

      • +1

Where/how would you mount to see sides? How would you power 4 of them?

    • A129 Pro is out for beta testing at the moment, so… soon?

  • +1

4K 129 pro duo version should hit the market very soon. Be aware of that. Some already got the pre production model.

  • +1

Would the duo version also function as a reversing camera? Can you see the live rear camera footage on the lcd display or on a phone or both?

    • +1

      Yes and no.

Since the camera is always recording, you can technically see where your reversing. But 1. you'd need to press a button to wake up the screen and 2. consider that the rear camera preview is 1/4 of the two inch screen, ie, it's tiny.

      • +1

if you keep pressing that button it will toggle through the cameras, therefore you can have the back camera in full screen….but it's still, very small.

    • +1

The rear camera would be inside behind the glass so I doubt you could see any better than your already onboard rear view mirror.

      Tried with a blackvue 650S 2ch mysellf :)

    • +2

There's a 3.5mm av out port. You could wire it to an external display if you want a bigger screen

  • It comes with the GPS module?

  • Does the A119 V3 have an IR cut filter?

    • Optional but you can search Viofo cpl filter and lot of sellers selling them

      • An IR filter is different to a cpl filter.
You don't need a cpl filter on a dashcam

        • Got ya, no they don’t have a iR cut filter but yes, dashcam need a cpl filter, especially for the front lens.

          • @Xinjiang:

yes, dashcam need a cpl filter, especially for the front lens.

I said above you don't need a cpl filter on a dashcam.

A cpl filter is useless on a dashcam.

You want a vertically polarised filter. The same as sunglasses.

            • @spaceflight: Not sure what’s the difference between circular polarize lens filter And vertical polarised filter but Viofo’s cpl filter does a very good job in reducing the sun flare on my dashcams tho, lot of other people had the same result too.

            • +1

@spaceflight: having a cpl removes glare and reflections. especially helpful when you're driving into the sun and your dashboards reflection is consuming the lower half of the image.

fact of the matter is that they dont make vertical polarised lenses, only CPL, so take what you can get.

  • Best place to buy hw kit from?

    • Heaps on ebay, just search the hardwiremkit will do.

  • Can anyone recommend a Sydney installer?

    • Jbhi have local installers. Ask your store for a local contact. I had mine done by him. $100. Took him an hour. Super neat job.

    • +2

I'm installing the A129 in a corolla tomorrow arvo in Liverpool/Fairfield area

This guy does my auto-electrical work in my driveway.

He does a lot of the big 4x4 companies aswell. Has an ABN and fully-qualified. Super neat work

  • Waiting for the A129 Pro 4k-Front/1080p-Rear to come out. A few have early versions on dashcamtalk already and the sample videos looks amazing

  • +1

Great deal. Should get the ebay gift card first for more saving

  • +1

    bought the last one…thanks op

    • There is still one available. Lol. And I think there will always be one available.

  • I have the A129 duo which I installed myself. I’m really impressed with it, works great.

  • sorry for my lack of knowledge, been meaning to do more research on dash cams, know a little bit, just looking for a good quality camera, no bells and whistles, these seem like a fair price for what they are, is it worth paying the extra for A129 vs the A119, or is it dearer because there are 2 cameras rather than 1? thanks

    • Pretty much, the main unit needs to record two camera feeds, so is more costly

  • -1

Damn. I just bought the A129 last week from A1 Electric Toys for $215. It did come with the hardwire kit and a 32gb card. Great service from them.

Is shopping square still dodgy? They never got good reviews when in researched them

    • That is a better deal imo. The hardwired kit is $25 already and you need to factor in the cost of the Sd card

  • Installed A129 duo two months, performs brilliantly. My mechanic installed cables for $60, cheaper than hitting airbags.

    • That's pretty cheap.

Clearing the airbags isn't a big problem if you're careful

  • Should I buy A119s or A119 V3?

    • +1

      Yes.

  • +2

    Thanks OP. Purchased an A129.

If anyone has any recommended installers in Melb Inner North or Melb North-East/East, please let me know.

    • +1

Autobarn.. they charged 80$ to install my A119 V3 and they would charge 120-140 for dual channel dashcams..

      • Thanks Vikram
