Good for a starter laptop, compromises; heavier at 2.2kg, Ryzen isn’t as energy efficient compare to intel equivalent, battery life isn’t too good, thick bezels and form factor. But overall solid starting laptop for that price,

Unless you really need mobility, I would recommend a desktop. And unless you really need it now, I would recommend waiting for a Dell sale (either eBay or main Dell website) + Cashrewards 10% cash back promotion. You can easily save 20-30% on new Dell computers through these combined sales.

Anddd.. if you're leaving the country in the next 2 months, I would recommend claiming GST on your way out (assuming you're buying something under a grand, so that you can bring it back in legally).

    • I don’t really need mobility and I would like to go back on a desktop one. Last time I have built one was in 2000 and I don’t have the drive (oops) anymore to do that today. I should find a good option at reasonable price already assembled but it’s not easier than find a good laptop. Thanks for your inputs, really appreciated

      • If were still interested in a desktop, you could pay for the retailer such as Mwave, MSY, Umart etc to build the PC for you.

        • I second this. The specs with the price don't really do it for me, tbh. If it were my cash, I'd rather pay to have it built and brand new rather than refurbished.

      • As far as laptop prices go, this has decent specs for the price bracket. But as the others have said, if you don't mind a desktop, then you will definitely get better specs for the same price.

But to answer your question, I've not had good experience with refurbished Inspiron laptops. They die very quickly. Motherboard died in one case and in the other, the keyboard fell apart. Managed to get a refund in the first case.

In contrast, and not intending to diminish your experience, I have purchased three separate Inspiron laptops from the Dell Factory Outlet over the last couple of years. All have been perfect, and all are still running just fine.
