      It's always worked for me. Even visiting multiple stores in the day.

      I hit the same store in the morning on my way into the city, and then again in the arvo on the way back. Not sure if you're willing to wait 8 hours or so for a $2.50 pie.

    A mate of mine says there's an ongoing magic phrase that works in any state on any day of the year but for whatever reason isn't heavily promoted. Though it could be a little embarrassing if the clerk is uninformed.

    Something like:
    "Oi, listen, oim walkin' out with a Big Yum pie. Don't start anything, alright?! Aussie!!"

    I'll ask him for the exact phrase when he gets out of Long Bay gaol.
