Do you care about privacy and having longer lifespan with updates and higher resale value all within the iOS ecosystem? iPhone.

    • Yes & what about features?

    • +2

Both android and iOS have end to end encryption.

        unless they hack your keyboard

Wait for the Pixel 4 XL next month before buying.

    • +1

Don't bother, the only con going for Pixel 4 XL is the resolution, everything else is smaller or doesnt exist, Battery, QI, Ram, Storage, Camera……

  • lol, there is no comparison. apple all day, but i would spend more and get the 11 pro.

I could never use an iPhone. Everything is geared to you paying for more stuff. Its like an inapp purchase for your phone.

And iTunes, omg, wtf is that? You want to transfer your home movies? ITunes. You want to transfer a movie you downloaded? You gotta convert to mp4 then sync with itunes. You want to transfer your music? ITunes. You want to transfer your photos to pc? ICloud photos needs to be downloaded. You want to use the calendar app and sync contents, you need a Mac for that.

Oh you want to get music or other files from another laptop? Nope, you need to sync with your original laptop that has it's verified iTunes.

With my android, I can download whatever I want and play the music/movies straightaway on my phone. I want to transfer stuff? I can connect my usb c on any laptop/desktop or I can take my micro sd card and plug it to my laptop/desktop. Not to mention the other fun ways you can get stuff for your phone (which I won't mention here)

The one thing that I love about apple products is they are made very well. They are quality, well thought and developed products. And animoji.

Fair points a few years ago maybe, but you’re a bit out of date:

I doubt 99% of iPhone users know anything about how you used to have to connect to iTunes. None of what you mention is necessary, it’s entirely phone based now. (iTunes won’t even handle cabled connections in the next MacOS — the Finder is taking over. Again, 99% of iPhone people won’t even know that.)

AirDrop, very seamless way of getting files around wirelessly. SD card read/writes from anything formatted FAT32 or ExFAT. Want to hookup a 2TB Samsung T5 to your iPhone? Quite doable these days.

All the media players on both platforms, iOS or Android, can play pretty much anything you throw at them, the days of having to transcode and sync are very long gone.

Android has a number of distinct advantages — you can ride a lot closer to the metal if you’re that way inclined, and you generally get more features for less $$$, but none of what you mentioned about is actually relevant these days.

At least dislike the competition for the right reasons.

You still need iTunes for pc. Sure if you're living in the apple garden, you can airdrop. But that means you're paying for a Mac,etc.

If you want to buy just an iPhone without diving into the deep end, my points still stands. You need a Mac to sync your calendar, I mean what is that?

You say with certainty of 99% users, when there are a fair percentage of people not completely engrossed in the apple environment so you're over exaggerating there; at least use a believable fact. If you're that way inclined to spend $$$ on apple related products, go ahead.

@mbck - You need to update your iPhone knowledge. Non of what you mentioned is true.

I’ve used iPhones for years and have a Mac, I haven’t used iTunes in easily 5 years. You use your iPhone as normal and have it backed up to the cloud.

If I put a picture in Google photos, it shows up on my iPhone etc. I’m not sure why you don’t use music streaming services like Spotify or Google music? There’s heaps of third party sharing apps which act like air drop but can be used between windows and iOS. Yes you have a higher start up cost with an Apple product but they do last longer. My current phone is an iPhone 7 and it’s still really fast, no lag and all I’ve paid is $38 at an Apple store to have a new battery put in last year. The old battery was still fine but the store has a deal on. In my experience with Android you are lucky to get updates for your phone 3 years on, yet my iPhone will last me another 12 months at least and will continue to get updates.

If you want to sync your calendar you use the mail app to sync it.

          • @StonedWizard: Maybe they're complaining that they can't move their illegally torrented files onto an iPhone easily, lmao. I swear that's Android users main gripe - I can't transfer my downloaded movies!!1! - codswallop. Ya just have to do things legally.

If you want to watch your downloaded shiz, use a Plex server. It's what I've done in the past - could access my content on my iPhone/iPad and voila, all sorted.

Like you, I never use iTunes. All my music and media is streamed. No idea what old mate is on about, they obv have zero idea and hang onto the old days to shiz on Apple cos they're exactly what they lament about: a sheep.

Long term android user and fanboy, i bought iphone 11. Coming from a very very good android phone (oneplus 6t) and my wife has galaxy s10

      1) Best camera out there. I dont care so much about details (that are very good anyway) etc, they always nail the color and white balance. Much more natural pics.
      2) Fastest and smoothest phone out there.
      3) Excellent battery life.
      4) ios is very usable now, packs nice features.
      5) Face id is so much better than any fingerprint reader. Game changer.
      6) ios gestures are the best in the game.
      7) Best updates in the game. Already had 3 (bought day 1)
      8) Bought an iphone xs as a test a month ago, which led me to buy an iphone 11. Backup from xs and restore to 11 was mindblowing, very painless procedure. On android it's….. terror
      9) Apps are better on ios. it hurts me but it's true, even google apps run better on ios. Instagram/Snapchat/Camera apps are like they are stock apps.

I dont really care about imessage and animojis and the rest but i feel pretty happy with my purchase.

  • Does the price matter to you? P30 Pro is going for $1099 at the moment while the equivalent 256GB iPhone 11 Pro is $1999.

I am only interested in iPhone 11 not iPhone 11 Pro.
