  • Correct me if I'm wrong but I would've expect when doing a pressure/leak test then the dye will be required. Same goes for the oil when you're purging the system?

    Great deal,
    From the website:
    Here is what they'll do:
    - Degas the Air Conditioning System
    - Perform a Pressure Check
    - Evaluate system of moisture and air
    - Check Integrity of Air Conditioning System
    - Regas with purified R134a Gas
    - Test for leaks
    - Inspection of receiver/dryer
    - Inspection of Air Conditioning components
    - Check vent temperature
    - Clean condenser fins

The catch is for older cars that are running R12 - if you have R12 or ER12 (Butane/Propane mix) that's running well, don't go for this offer as R134a isn't compatible - it's less efficient, runs at higher pressures and requires the A/C oil, seals and receiver/dryer replacement.

Otherwise if your car has R134a, it's a great deal.

Your listed as living in Melbourne - are you going to drive all the way to sydney??

        ozpete,

I voted it up because it's an exceptionally good priced deal and provided some useful advice for people who are geographically near the offer.

I'm perplexed why you're asking if I'll drive all the way to Sydney. Are there new OzBargain policies preventing users offering advice for non local bargains?

  • Great deal shame your not on the Gold Coast

How much is it usually (ie. what the reasonable price is)?

    • For a full service of air con like this? About $150.

But Botany is pretty crappy to get to unless you live near it. (ie Western Sydney would take you hours- plus tolls)

Great deal for locals in South Sydney though.

    • not so much "how much is it usually" as "how much would it cost if the A/C compressor goes belly up because i didn't get it serviced"! the answer is, on some cars it can be around $2000+, so if i had to choose between $66 and $2K, i'd choose the former…
