Found a flyer in my american express bill today, though have not had a chance to test it yet.

This is straight off the flyer:

  • Waived set-up fee (save US$20)
  • Complimentary annual Premium membership (save US$60 / year)
  • Exclusive 30% discount off already reduced shipping rates
  • A reduced fee of just 6% of the purchase price for the Personal Shopper Service when using your American Express Card (compared to a fee of 10% for general members)
  • dedicated customer service team

As far as I can tell the only condition is that you use your American Express card

  • has anyone dealt with this company? legit? reputable?

…and for others wondering what MyUS is about:

"- Receive your own US Mailing address.
    - Order from online US retailers and merchandise arrives at your door.
    - Have MyUS.com's Personal Shopper Service buy items for you from retailers that accept US credit cards only.
    - Orders are sent via DHL or FedEx and arrive faster, safer and cheaper than many other international shipping services."

  • Does the annual membership auto-debit the next year?

    • Going by "save US$60 / year" I'd say no, it's free for subsequent years as well, since you'd only be saving US$60 in the first year if that were the case.

      • I just signed up and it said "Membership fee (1st year): $0". It would be good if there was no ongoing fee but I can't find whether they do charge you after the first year?
If so I will need to remind myself to cancel this in a years time…

        • No renewal fee as long as you use the Amex card for purchases!

  • looks like a great deal, though as a shipito user, can anyone comment on the shipping rates compared to shipito/priceusa etc?

  • Shipping looks expensive for what I would use it for, about double the price for the same service(DHL) I get now direct from some stores.
    (not a shipito user)

    • The real savings is when you are purchasing from multiple retailers and consolidate the shipments into one package. So instead of paying multiple shipping charges, you only have one.

    • Having said that, consolidating parcels and the 30% discount on shipping rates has seen me sign up.
Some stores will still be quicker and cheaper to ship directly tho.

I've been using MyUS for 4 years now & I can only praise them. I can place an order with a seller in the USA today & I will get my item within 4-6 days. DHL are MyUS's preferred Carrier & you can track your item on the DHL website 24 hrs a day.

Membership costs me $15 Aus. per month plus I pay for additional shipping costs per shipment. Shipping costs are outlined on the MyUS website. For me, because I buy quite frequently from the USA, the monthly membership fee is worth it.

Other reason I use MyUS is because not all Website/Ebay Sellers ship to addresses outside the USA.

    Hope this helps?

    • Are you on an older rate for the Premium + Mail service?

    • how much does it cost to ship a pair of shoes to Australia address??

      • Weigh your shoes and use the shipping calculator.
Might be the same cost if you ordered 2 or 3 pair.

  • Do you have to use the American Express card to buy the actual item, or just to pay the freight forwarder? If the former, it would be bad because you'll be better off using a credit card without currency conversion fees like 28 degrees.

    • No, you can use whatever you like to buy the item. MyUS only acts as the recipient for the item. I do believe though, that you must pay their fees and the subsequent shipping using the registered card though…

Signed up - wonder if I can get some Bawls now from Thinkgeek :D

  • The shipping rates are ok. But compared to hopshopgo appear to be a little higher. The deal breaker is because they are based in Florida there is 6-7% sales tax applied. Making it expensive

    • +1

You only have to pay the Sales tax if you are purchasing from a website based in Florida. Other than that, You don't have a tax.

      • thanks loutut, good to know. Are there any major online retailers based in Florida?

        • no major retailers, however, there are a few nice ones. Make sue that you check out the Reccommended Merchants" page on the myUS.com website.

  • How this compare to shipito?
I'm just signed up to shipito last week so very newbies in this :/

    • In my opinion, it is much better especially when you order items from many sites and have them consolidate the packages into one shipment. Also the customer serive is great!

  • Is the offer there to stay, I don't see any expiry date? (to join and get the 1 year benefit, that is)

    • No expiration date as long as you use the Amex card!

  • The link in the deal www.myus.com/americanexpress-au just goes to their home page with no mention of the discount.

Does it apply when you go through the checkout and try to pay with american express?

    • Yeah after you put in your AMEX card number during checkout, the invoice should show amount owing as $0.00 :)

      • When I tried it showed $80, but this may be because lots of websites think I'm in Japan when I'm at work.

        • I see that as well. Why would it care where it thinks we are ? Don't see any mention of this being Australia only.

        • The offer is for Australian AmEx Members and it takes into account the location of the IP address when registering. Just an FYI

  • Thanks - just signed up.

When I clicked the link above it took me to an Amex deal page.

    Using Internode as my ISP.

Looks like it is totally waived - note the saving "per year!"

    Waived set-up fee (USD$20 savings)
Complimentary membership (a USD$60 savings per year!)
30% off already discounted shipping rates
    Dedicated Customer Service

I was able to sign up to this with a bank issued Amex Card.. wasn't sure if the offer was for direct Amex members.

  • I only just got the flyer and tried to signup but it said '$80 fee due'.
I used my AMEX card, is this offer still going?
    Thanks

    • Ah, my work must be overseas too… where do they get their crap IP database? :)

  • Just signed up good find!

  • Who has the best rates for getting US magazines redirected to an Aussie Address? Shiptogo?

  • Awesome deal! Just signed up!

  • is this offer expired? I got it in mail yesterday. Just tried with 2 different AU IP and 2 amex cards. didn't work for me. :(
