All the craze with Dyson frustrates me. To quote choice.com.au directly:

"Dyson barrel and upright vacs (priced from $549 to $999) are not always recommended in our vacuum reviews. They often get good overall scores, but not quite good enough to be recommended: they're usually not so good at picking up dirt from carpet, which is the main job for vacuum cleaners in most homes. In that respect, we find Dyson models are regularly outperformed by other brands."

    Ozbargain thoughts:

Bought a dyson, attachment broke after 23 months, Dyson replaced it, worked fine another year, sold it for reasonable used value

Bought a bissel, performed better than dyson (just) died in 5 months, replacement died in 6. Both heavier and whined a lot during use.

Bought a dyson again, lighter and cleans well, will have some used value when we're done.

Cost of ownership makes a dyson which cleans fine a good choice for us, bissell weighed a ton! Dyson try to be the apple (urgh) of the cleaning world, but in this case, their durability and when failed their warranty were worth it. Not as good as they used to be (first dyson worked well for 9 years and was sold on) but not bad.

When dyson create a robo cleaner that actually works well, I'll buy one (on offer of course!)

Reviewers always have a vested interest, they rip cars that the public like to buy for instance because they're 'uninspiring' when most people want cars that start stop and are reliable, and good on fuel, not that make you crap your pants at every turn and require good breakdown cover!
