What are the differences? Is this still a good purchase? I have an aging by that's on its last legs
Both good upgrades.
I have the V8 and was underwhelmed by both and recently purchased a 3rd party battery upgrade off Amazon.
In retrospect would of gone with a different brand as I feel Dyson market segments this with the cripple hammer just too much like a base model Canon camera.
@backupper1: I had one of the earlier model small Dyson’s and it was stronger than this.
My partner does not mind it but I think it is too weak for nooks and crannies and would rate it bare minimum acceptable. The battery drains very quickly especially at maximum settings.
There is a reason Dyson has much more expensive vacuum models with much better performance.
I am not sure if they have these on display at Harvey Norman or JB Hi-Finto test but I would ask to see for yourself prior to purchase.
Too new to know? Here’s the official page:

I think biggest upgrade is the removal of trigger button.
The new one is a plug in hybrid
if you do hand held cleaning using the brush bar, note that the new cyclone v8 does not comes with a powered hair screw tool unlike the old one, only a powered brush bar. this reason is enough for me to not get the new one because I hate the amount of hair that gets tangled on the brush bar. seems like a brain dead decision from Dyson because I can't imagine the hair screw tool costs more than the brush bar.
the higher suction and no trigger and definitely bonus.
PSA: This version is $329 and the updated V8 is currently $649
I wonder if the new one still uses a simple battery so it'll be compatible with the battery mods. If yes then that's actually huge.
New one uses a hot-swappable battery, should be easier to mod.
It's more so if it's closer to a common voltage like 18v and if they don't have any handshake stuff to make it so it only works with batteries that have the correct controller in it. The previous Dyson V8 is great because you can use adaptors to hook up your power tool batteries.
The price has gone down like all the altcoins on bitcoin 😂 (At a discount ay 🤣)
Jokes aside, price is appealing haha
After using dyson for years, we bought a V15 ultra.. some copy off amazon for 169, its just if not more powerful and battery last nearly 70mins. The $1500 rort is over for dyson.

Yah rite. Are you sure this cheap replica not gonna leak dust back to the air you breathe? If it does leak, you're just absorbing the fine dust from your floor. And does it have multiple cyclone to prevent cloggage caused by flour or sth similar?
Vacuum is not just about suction or battery life. We have more expensive products for a reason. I'm not saying Dyson is perfect, but it has many unmatched features that a replica never has :)
Or you an buy a branded one and not worry about the dust for half the price of older V8.
R10 is crap mate
@lazydesi: You can buy 2 R10s for half the price of a R20 and use it at medium settings. Batteries are removable anyways.
@John Doh: What's the point of removable batt if it's so hard to buy the second one? Dont tell me you buy the same vac again just for a batt 😂 I'd rather buy a Samsung which also sells official extra batt from their store.
@raperozbargain: For the low price you pay, you can very well buy a new vac for the extra battery. The performance is not subpar to dyson V8.
Isn't shark vacuums pretty good for the price and half the cost
i have a recent shark detect pro. the "cyclone" or lack there-of sucks. the dust filter gets clogged constantly, every week i have to deep clean it in a sonic bath or the suck power is like 10% of new and is basically useless.
i can just about guarantee that the cheap dyson clones will have the same issue. they're not going to bother engineering real multi-stage cyclones.
never again.
Nope most Shark cordless stick is shit. They all have flaws in design, then suction and reliability issues. If it breaks, good luck finding replacement parts.
How do you find the Vistefly for your space? I’m looking at this but haven’t found an honest review
ain’t no one got time to vacuum for 70 minutes
Mrwhosetheboss did a video yesterday comparing real and fake tech purchases and the V15 clone supposedly outperformed the Dyson haha
Good time to grab if you intend to use with a Ryobi or Ozito Adaptor. The new version has a swappable battery which would mean a different design.
New one also has a medium setting which I always thought was missing with the orignal v8 only having very low or Max setting with short life.
Can I have more info about this adapter please?
I’ll wait couple more years to get the new v8 lol. use old one for now
Shark IZ102 for $229 ($219 with $10 coupon) is a decent alternative.

I hope so! Just ordered this to upgrade from my Dyson V6.
Paid $118 + $120 TGG StoreCash after the court proceedings.
Court proceedings?
Bring on some great deal for V10 please.
Yes.
Dyson or this Bissell with 2 batteries?
https://www.amazon.com.au/PowerClean-FurGuard-280W-Self-Stan…
i'll never buy a v8 again.. bought one after all the hype at how good they were.. after about 1 month use, suction stop starts constantly.. going to get a refund and never buy a base model dyson again.. got a cheap amazon stick vac on sale, and they're lasting longer.. found the v8 unreliable and weak.. anyways finally found the receipt so taking it back to good guys.. hope they refund me^^P
Your filter needs cleaning…
ive cleaned filters, even washed the little one out etc.. pretty much vaccumed about 4 times before it stopped working properly…
What would be the best cashback deal to stack this with?
I only use topcashback and shopback so I only compare these two.
I am uncertain if this qualifies as an "electronic" in topcashback. If it does then topcashback is slightly better than shopback after you activate the extra $5 cashback promotion. If not, then shopback is better.
Thanks for the advice.
just confirmed that this isn't considered an electronic by amazon, so Shopback is better.
v8 dyson is the worst of the lot! do not buy!
Strong disagree. It’s great at this price and for its performance. And Dyson’s repair and replacement service is generous and unrivalled. Had out of warranty products fully replaced, no questions asked.
I have two and they seem okay to me. I don't use them as my main vacuum though, just for occasional clean-ups and vacuuming up hair in the bathroom. I haven't had any problems with them.
I got mine from Amazon and the battery stopped charging in 6 months time with only very sporadic usage. But Dyson support was very responsive and sent me a new battery.
Dyson isnt worth the money, there are better alternatives
If you use pay too, can you use gift card
get a free one off marketplace with a (profanity) battery and start running it on 20v ortizo batteries with an adapter
PSA: This version has just been retired. Dyson released an updated V8 about a week ago.
