Barossa Cabernet (Made by Schild Estate) at $88.80/Dozen ($7.40/Bottle) (RRP $240/Dozen) Delivered @ Skye Cellars

20

This Cabernet Sauvignon displays pure blackcurrant, eucalypt and dark chocolate. Hints of cedar oak lurk in the shadows adding complexity. Grown up and serious, yet quite dexterous and well balanced. Bold blueberries and plummy fruit pack in the flavour, along with a subtle tannin drive across the edges.

Check out the GMS as well. It's a favourite of mine.

About the winery:
Schild Estate Wines has established vineyards in the Barossa Valley since 1952. Ed and Lorraine Schild have developed 165ha of plantings over 12 unique vineyard sites in the southern region of the Barossa Valley, specialising in growing shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and bush-vine grenache. They make premium Barossa reds of quality and character, best known for their flagship wine Schild Estate Moorooroo Vineyard Shiraz. This wine is harvested from original Barossa vines planted by Johan and William Jacob in 1847, between Jacobs Creek and the North Para River.

Moorooroo translates to ‘the meeting of two waters’ in Australia’s first language. Schild Estate 2015 Moorooroo Shiraz was rated in James Halliday’s Wine Companion (2019 edition) at 99 points, and Schild Estate is classified as a 5-star winery.

At Schild Estate you can still shake hands with three generations of the family. All of Schild Estate's wines come from the Southern Barossa, where their vineyards, winery and tasting room are all located.

I have previously asked about some of the original price or value of some of Skye Cellars wines. However I have not been disapointed with any of the wines that they attach their Skye Points to. I have purchased the cabernet and it is quite good especially at this price. The Vale also is good value.
