  • Free Polarising on Second Pair (Save $100)

How is it 'save $100' when they only charge $50 for polarisation?

  • Done this offer before. If you don't need high index or multifocals and have only moderately bad eyesight it's a decentish deal.
If you want high index to go thinner with your lenses, their range is not great, and I found them to be thicker than lenses from OPSM or other independents. Their polarizing is not the best either.

    • Opsm will only give us 1 pair whilst SS gives 2 pairs. Although you get what you paid, I would still go to SS as my glasses get updated yearly for free with my health fund

      • You probably don't need multifocals or high index lenses. For single vision lenses their deals are decent. But as soon as you need extras they are not that competitive, and their lenses are not as good quality (thicker lenses for starters).

For example, my multifocal lenses alone are more than any health fund will cover for optical. I used to be with NIB which thankfully let me claims a pair of frames in December, and then the lenses separately in January (thus using 2 years of benefit across one pair of glasses).

  • Might want to combine with this deal as well (assuming you can, not really sure).

    • That deal is for contact lens only?

      • +3

Haha good point, I only saw Specsavers and didn't read it very well obviously!

Apparently I do indeed need to go to Specsavers.

  • The ad says '$199 and above' yet in T&Cs it's '$149 and above'.

    • good pick-up, specsavers have just introduced sunnies into their $149 range (sunnies use to be only available in $199 and above).
Marketing team slow on the uptake?
I have confirmed that this offer is valid for any sunnies $149 and above

  • I tried this, and added polarising on my second pair. Still charging me $100.

    • according to T&Cs this offer is instore only

  • Sorry in advance for the noob question. So my health fund gives me $200 per person on optical, just trying to figure out how much I'm out of pocket after all this. So to qualify for this deal, I need to purchase 2 glasses at 199 ea (398 in total)? Meaning I'm still 198 out of pocket right?

    • Nope, their regular 2for1 deal still applies (so buy one pair, get one free).
With your health fund you will be entitled to choose from the $199 range, get 2 pairs of single vision specs and have one polarised - no out of pocket.

To take advantage of this offer, one pair out of your 2 chosen glasses must of course, be sunglasses. The other pair can be normal distance glasses, reading glasses or another pair of sunnies (but remember polarised lenses are only free for 1 pair).

You'd be out of pocket if you choose to have an anti-reflective coating applied, need progressive lenses (multifocals), or need your lenses thinner.

    • Does your fund pay 100% back up to $200? If so, then you'll not have any out of pocket.
