        The plat will become spire by the holidays. But I think this promotion is per quarter so activating it now will end 31/12/19 and activating after New Years will just be for Q1/2020

      No. You have to book through the IHG booking channels to get your perks.

          Corporate travel is a little different. They general book the negotiated corporate rate, which depending on the contract usually includes loyalty perks for the guest.

      The email is unlikely to do anything. Upgrades are generally assigned early on the morning of check in. That's when the hotel generally knows what they'll have vacant.

      Late checkout depends on the hotel. Some will sort it if you ask at check in. They will cut your keys with the late checkout. Other will only let you do it <24hrs before checkout.

      The upgrade is not a category upgrade but only a room upgrade. Ie same type of room but on a higher floor or further from the lift. You get this benefit anyhow if you have status. What you don't get is a club room executive suite when you only book an executive suite.

      So honestly, no major difference. I'm an IHG Spire already spending about 100 nights a year in Intercontinentals in Australia only. The benefits listed don't exist really, it's just a higher earn rate, late check-out and early check-in, no blackout dates for reward nights. These perks do come in handy if you're a business traveller, otherwise there isn't much in there.

      Room upgrade - see above
      Kindle eBooks - not in Australia
      Complementary wifi - of course, every paying guest gets that in Australia

    Worked for me. Clicked on link at the top of this page and my current IHG details were pre populated. Clicked on register and received email confirmation on the spot. Went into my IHG App (currently a gold), refreshed and it was Spire Elite until end of December.

    IHG has cancelled promotions from ineligible accounts before so I'd say don't get your Hope's up.

            @Serathis: I called the Customer service and found that if you registered/opened a new account today - you will still get the status but after 10 days of opening the account.

              @Pj123: Yeah I think that sounds about right as to what will happen, if a company doesn't confirm you are an employee then it will revert back to what your previous membership tier was.

              Note, mine has come up in the Offer's section but nothing else updated. I expect this to dissapear in the coming days as I'm not with a corporate who has a relationship with IHG.

    Seems I didn't get the Spire Status retention deal requiring only 10 bookings within the 90 days

    My '2019 Track to Elite Status' indicates

    "Keep Spire Elite status
    with 75,000 more qualifying points or 75 more qualifying nights before 31/12/2019."

    Found some external posts said it need to be employees of select accounting and consulting firms (Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, McKinsey & Company and Accenture) were eligible for this promotion last year. Not sure this year. Good luck.
