    Anyone know how does complimentary room upgrade works for the Spire elite status?

    Do I just book a standard room and on the day hope they have a deluxe or better room available to ask for a complimentary upgrade? Or is there another way that gives more assurance?

    I contacted IHG live chat and he confirmed that this is a targeted offer and I am not eligible. But I found a hack. Once you register for this offer and it is in your offers, you need to change your email in your personal information to a random eligible company email address. I instantly got upgraded after I did that and then changed my email address back to gmail. Job done :D

    Was no status. Checked in at CP. Then found this promo. Activated. Went back to reception to ask about status benefits. They were seriously lost when I showed them my status like how could it be. Anyway, we got lounge access. No other benefits. But lounge is a good outcome.

        Yes to all. The lounge had hot nibbles amd a soup of the day in the evening (plus cold cuts, nuts, chips etc) with wines and self.pour basic spirits (Jim B, Johnny R, Smirnoff Red, Beefeater Gin,Beers, Baileys). Breakfast 3 x hot dishes (eggs, mushrooms and a protein (bacon) and then continental items (yoghurt, cereal, cold cuts) tea, coffee, juices. Lunch was soup of the day and cold cuts (and crisps, lollies, snacks). When on the personal coin it saves nicely. Nothing flash. And then the bonus points help get to a free night faster (which I'll ensure I use the points whilst I have status for more value).

    I activated the Spire promo two days ago and used it to gain early check in on a intercontinental booking I happened to be taking the following day. I also confirmed for a late check out on the day I'm due to finish the stay. This morning I've noticed that my status has gone back down to gold :(

    At least I got to use it for a little while, but really annoying that they've taken it away grrrr

    I'm currently at the intercontinental westlake in Hanoi. We checked in early two days ago using the Spire offer and we're due to check out today. I notified the hotel that I wanted to utilise the late checkout of 4pm on our first day here. Last night I got a letter under my door thanking me for being a Spire member and confirming my late checkout. Now this morning my status has been revoked so I'm hoping that they don't kick us out early 😂 but even if they do, oh well we got some value out of the deal we wouldn't have otherwise!

    Got my status revoked as well (after check out). But it did the trick for my 2 night stay perfectly.

    But have a screenshot of my Spire status and my 2 night stay. Have started the Hilton Diamond status match as I have a few holiday nights coming up at Xmas. So that should work out a treat.Hilton asked for a copy of the IHG details.

    I've found with these little loopholes it is always best to act quickly.

    Oh, I managed to match the gold status with China Southern Airlines using this Spire IHG membership yesterday. However today they also revoked my airline membership status. Hertz might do this as well.

    Matched IHG to Wyndham Rewards before they revoked our status. Then got Caesers Rewards Diamond from the Wyndham Rewards.

    Currently visiting Las Vegas and just had my $100 celebration dinner at Gordon Ramsay Burger… and was also able to skip the massive line due to my Diamond Status.

    All for $0.

      Diamond from Caesar diamond there at Vegas. If you can get that then you can finally get Hyatt globalist status. One of the most rewarding hotel program in my opinion to obtain.

    Trying to close my IHG account, they don't make it easy…

    No where to be found on the FAQ and the virtual assistant doesn't know what close, delete or cancel account means.

    If you want to close your account you will need to speak to an agent via live chat. They will proceed to ask you about 5-6 questions before they can go ahead with the account closure.
