Dammit. Bought this machine for $700 delivered just last weekend from TGG

What are your thoughts on this machine, if you don't mind sharing?

      • +4

I paid $645 delivered a couple of months ago. It is super quiet in operation, barely audible. Nice and quick and really happy with it after my 7 year old Samsung died.

I would hands down recommend this in the price range under $800. If the 8.5kg is also on sale perhaps consider that, the drum size is slightly smaller than my previous 7.5kg. Otherwise very happy with it, has small features over my previous unit I appreciate (e.g. more granular delay start, better everyday wash cycle, ability to add clothes to cycle without waiting for timeout).

@RogueWolf: You've found another bargain! Not only is that the 8.5KG, it's the P2 model which has extra features too. It's 1,400 RPM and has some extra wash cycles.

        • Cheers

I am using this for the last 3 years, it is very quiet. No issue at all.

      • +1

As cyssero said, super quiet. Done about 3 loads so far, seems to do the job fine (honestly, I don't really know what I should expect from a washing machine beyond clean clothes - and it's doing that job fine).

It vibrates/shakes a bit more than my old machine, but not in any problematic or concerning way. I assume must just be more powerful than my last one?

TL;DR - it gets my clothes clean and is pretty quiet.

      • +2

Just for the record, I've had the 8.5kg version of this for a few years now. Was very happy with it at the start - very quiest and stable, as installed by the appliancesonline guys. About a year in, it came to a grinding halt during a wash. Called F&P who said no problem we'll send someone to take a look. Technician arrived and diagnosed breakage of some internal part (I think he said it was a spring, and that he'd seen this issue before). Then F&P organised for th emachine to be collected. Some guys came with a generic (ie. not F&P-branded) truck to pick up the machine. Ever sinec we got it back after the repair, the machine has been horrible.

Apart from some new scratches, the front panel isn't flush any more and some of the LEDs don't turn on. But most importantly, the machine shudders like there's an earthquake happening.

Before anyone says "you should've just sent it back", we'd already been without a washing machine for a few weeks during repair, and I couldn't be stuffed having more people come in and out of the house and being without a washing machine again for a few weeks.

TL;DR - if it has issues, take photos of the machine before allowing anyone to handle it /take it away for repair. That way you can prove they've damaged it if anything is amiss.

      Credit card price protection?

    • Sounds like a great deal

Can someone please recommend a good clothes dryer

  • GG have the price garrantee so go back to them and they will refund the difference.

    • I looked it up, only seems to be for concierge members (which I am not, unfortunately…)

      • would call & ask never used to be those terms

      • You might be able to add concierge now if you've purchased last week?

        • Yes, you can purchase concierge up to 14 days after. But check first if they'll refund - ebay is excluded as a competitor, not clear if they'll exclude it under Good guys price drop.

bought this one 3 mo's ago. Love it, very quiet.

  • How does this compare to the Bosch WAW28441AU?

I can't find noise levels for the Bosch so its hard to compare.

    • I think most direct-drive motors are going to be quiet and will vibrate less, I've heard the LG equivalent is silent too but it is a more expensive than this.

The Bosch is more comparable to higher end Fisher and Paykel's, the F1 or P2 models I believe. It has a 1,400 RPM vs 1,200 RPM max spin speed, wool setting and the aqua stop valve on the inlet.

For the price difference I would be getting this unit.

      • +1

I got a WAW28441 for $734 inc delivery just yesterday with a 10% off ebay voucher, which seemed to appear in my app just before checkout.

I would have been equally as happy to pay $530 for this F&P one.

  • Anyone know how much they actually charge to deliver this machine? The ebay listing says $10 postage but is that really the cost to get it to your house and installed?

    • Are you sure only $10 postage? Shows $55 for me, & no that doesn’t include install just delivery, just put a job on airtasker for someone to install.. $40 or so

      • Does that include removal of the machine you want to get rid of, or is that extra?

    • +1

$55 is drop off in the box. Should be $74 for installation, delivery, and removal of your old machine (if you want them to remove it). Those are the in-store prices anyway.

      • You can add the premium delivery for $19 when they call you to arrange delivery. (I did that today.)

  • I also have this and can vouch for it. Best washing machine we have owned thus far.

I had the predecessor to this model (WH7560J1), It broke down a month ago after 4 years of service. The error code indicated the fault was due to the motor (which is covered by a longer warranty something like 8 or 10 years) F&P service department was a real pain to deal with. They sent out a technician which cost us $120 as they diagnosed the issue as the control board. Quoted $400 plus labor to repair, obviously we didn't proceed with the repair. Everyone who I've talked to about this since said their F&P machines (both washers and dryers) have also broken down after 4-5 years.

Now I understand that "they don't make them like they used to" but 4 years is taking the piss. Also their customer service is a pain to deal with it takes over an hour to get through to somebody and if you use the option for them to call you back they will try once and if you don't answer you have to call them back again. Also the left hand doesn't talk to the right and the technician was booked for the afternoon window (12-5) with the specific instructions that no one would be home at 3pm-3:15pm due to school pickup… guess what time they arrived.

TL;DR Be aware that this unit will most likely only last 4-5 years.

    • That is disappointing, I got 7 years out of my Samsung and even then felt it was a premature death when it died (spider failure). I have heard of some LGs lasting quite long, but it's all anecdotal and I have no faith outside of perhaps a Miele or a Maytag (worth 3-4x the price of these) that they will last any longer.

      • If you get much more than 5 years out of a front loader you are doing ok

        They generally don’t last long

    • My parents house had the same thing. It's haning by a thread but the control board would bugger up every now and then. My asko had 3 callouts before the replaced the board also under warranty. I've been told they are super finiky and to always use a surge plug. Both been going strong since.

  • I got this for around 350 from TGG in Dec (long story. Wasn't a general deal). As above it's very quiet and does the job. Not sure about longevity. We use it once a week which I'm assuming is lower than the avg family usage so hopefully I can squeeze 7-8 years out of it

  • I want to purchase this machine. I want to know how can I arrange delivery + installation + removal of my old machine on eBay and how much will it cost? I live in Sydney. Can someone please help

    • Order it then when they call to arrange delivery ask to add premium delivery for $19.

    • +1

I'm not sure why you were downvoted. The machine you listed has pretty much the same specs but is cheaper and from Fisher & Paykel's parent company, Haier.

      • Perhaps it's the price you listed. 80% of $498 is $398. While that is "$300 something", it would have been better to say "about $400"

      • It actually has 16 different washing programs vs 9 on the F&P. All the other specs are the same give or take up to 1cm on the dimensions.

        • +1

Lack of the direct drive motor would be a deal breaker for me. The noise on this Haier while acceptable will be a lot more than the F&P.

          • @cyssero: The Haier model with direct drive is $4 more than the F&P but has the 9 extra washing programs and anti-bacterial treatment on the seals and soap dispenser.

            https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Haier-HWF75DW1-7-5kg-Front-L…

            • @RickyJ: I'm wondering if that Long-lasting anti-bacterial treated door seal and detergent dispenser is just a gimmick, or it actually is proven to do what it says.

              • @bargainparker: I'm not exactly sure but my understanding is that you need to use an anti-bacterial material for it to stay that way.

I'm sure its a great method for stationary objects with no wear and tear, but otherwise it makes no sense.

                • @samfisher5986: Kind of like in-house brand. You buy this, it's very good for xxxx, but to keep it that good, you also need to buy our care and protect pack. Seems like Apple. Need to research facts, fanfare is fine provided what they say works.

          • +1

@cyssero: Direct drive isn't mentioned on the eBay page but it is mentioned on the Haier website

What do you guys think about WH1060P1 10kg variant going for $930(discount & shipping) included?

We have the 7.5kg similar to the one posted here and thinking of upgrading mainly for doonas and other bulky items. would be 12kg be better option or any brands per se?

    • General consensus is that drum size matters just as much as the KG rating. I would personally get to a store and inspect the drum.

      • +2

agreed. The capacity of the machine should always be listed as Liters in the specs right next to where it lists the weight capacity.

    • The 10kg is basically the same but bigger

Take your bulky stuff to the self serve laundramatte until your machine dies

    • Wondering the same.

We've got a 5.5kg front loader. All we've ever known. With two kids now, and very frugal with washing/bills etc it STILL cops a flogging. Takes a large chunk of a Sat to clear the backlog, or we're doing a load every 2nd night.

Figure ~7.5kg is a wasted opportunity… Go big!

  • I have the wh7560p2 version. When the machine is filling up with water it’s really noisy. In operation it’s quiet. But when water is getting drawn in it’s quite loud. Is this just mine or does everyone’s do that ?

    • Mine is the same. After the first few minutes it's nearly completely quiet though. I think it's just loud in comparison to the actual wash cycle so it stands out.

      • Yeah that’s what I figured. Was hoping I didn’t have a dodgy pump or something
