Accept Credit Card Payments with Low Overhead

I am the treasurer for a small club that does typically under $1000 of sales a year of items we make at a couple of shows/fairs. I've been asked to look into accepting credit card payments, but the overheads need to be very low.

I know PayPal is a possibility but I've seen personally a few cases where buyers make payment then claim the goods were not delivered and PayPal ignores the receipt since it is not proof of delivery - I know there are ways around that like taking photos of drivers license + item, or getting customer to sign delivery receipt, but it's messy. Plus they are changing their rules that refunds/returns will not refund the PayPal fees.

Is there anyone else other than PayPal that is very low overhead?

Square or PayPal Here (Paypal device for processing Credit cards not PayPal transactions)

Most banks have a minimum monthly charge/terminal rental.

+1 for Square. It is very easy to use and no minimum transactions or monthly costs. Square offers a virtual terminal so credit card payments are processed on a computer.

Square has a referral offer where referrer and referree get fee free transactions of $1,000 within 6 months of signing up.

However, be mindful to check with your chosen provider their signing up procedures and what structures they may not accept or require extra steps in signing up. Eg, if your small club is an incorporated association, it may take longer or a manual process to get approved by Square.
